This week there were some announcements that may go unnoticed, but they are relevant and necessary to understand the industry landscape of the medium that we are so passionate about, anime. Through an article published through the Yahoo Japan portal which explains some data that were given during a meeting by Sony where they explained their policy for the fiscal year 2024 in which they provided data that could serve as a prelude to measure how the anime industry is doing.

Addressing the topic of international expansion, they announced that Crunchyroll had already surpassed a staggering 13 million subscribers. This significant achievement gives us a clear and encouraging view of Sony’s sustained global growth year on year.
Another announcement that was equally or even somewhat more relevant was that the Japanese company introduced an anime production software under the name “Anime Cancas“. These studios will be the first to adopt the new anime production software during the early stages of the company’s strategy, with the main goal of raising the quality in each of their creations and further strengthening their position in the anime industry. In addition, Sony is also considering providing this tool to external studios in the future.
