The Bocchi the Rock! series has been featured in the Recording Industry Association of Japan, which has announced the winners of the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards 2025, one of the most prestigious awards in the Japanese music industry. This annual event recognizes the most influential artists and productions based on their performance in sales and plays, and in the category of Animation Album of the Year, the award has been given to Re: Kessoku Band, the first mini album by Kessoku Band, from the popular Bocchi the Rock! anime franchise.
Bocchi the Rock! the first mini album Re: Kessoku Band wins Animation Album of the Year Award
The Recording Industry Association of Japan has announced the winners of the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards 2025, and in the Animation Album of the Year category, the award went to Re: Kessoku Band, the first mini album by Kessoku Band, from the popular anime franchise Bocchi the Rock! The Japan Gold Disc Awards were established in 1987 and are based on sales of CDs, video products and paid music distribution during the year.
In this edition, Re: Kessoku Band was recognized as the best anime album, a significant achievement for the Bocchi the Rock! franchise, which has managed to capture the attention of anime and rock music fans around the world. This six-song mini album was released in Japan on August 14, 2024 and quickly reached the top spot on Oricon’s weekly digital album charts, demonstrating the great acceptance of the public.
This Mini Album contains the four main songs from the two recap movies of the series, starting with the first one known as Bocchi The Rock! Re:, released in June 2024, and the second titled Bocchi The Rock! Re:Re:, which hit theaters in August 2024. These productions grossed 1.23 billion yen (approximately US$8.3 million) with the sale of 817,000 tickets at the Japanese box office, cementing their success in both film and music.
The Kessoku Band, consisting of Ikuyo Kita (vocals and guitar), Nijika Ijichi (drums), Ryou Yamada (bass) and Hitori Gotoh “Bocchi” (lead guitar), has been one of the biggest revelations in the anime music industry. Combining catchy melodies with deep lyrics that have resonated with a global audience, their music has gained popularity on streaming platforms and at live concerts, where fans can experience the band’s energy first-hand.

Each of these songs has been critically acclaimed by critics and fans alike, with lyrics that reflect the passion, challenges and personal growth of Bocchi The Rock! characters, and the collaboration with ILOHAS on Boku to Sangenshoku added a special element to the production, fusing different musical styles and appealing to an even wider audience.
