It has been more than a year since Kodansha announced the production of an anime adaptation of the drama and romance manga Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen, and finally, today new updates have been revealed. Among this new information, it is highlighted that the anime will premiere during the month of July 2025 and the first visual image of the series has also been presented.
In addition, the opening of an X/Twitter account and an official website for the anime adaptation of the manga Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen was announced to the public. In these media, more details about the series have been presented, including the production team that will participate in the series, the first members of the voice cast and a commemorative illustration created by adsa, author of the original manga.
The production team for the anime Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen is as follows: Takashi Naoya is in charge of directing the anime and will have Matsuo Asami as his assistant. The animation studio Staple Entertainment is in charge of the production of the anime. Tatsuya Takahashi is in charge of composing the anime. Shoko Yasuda is in charge of the anime’s character design and along with Sachiyo Komito, Toshimitsu Kobayashi and Taeko Ogi will be the chief animation directors.

Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen is a drama and romance manga written and illustrated by Naru Narumi. Its serialization began in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine in August 2014. However, it was later transferred to Kodansha publisher Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine, where it began publication in November 2015 and ended in September 2023. In total, the manga has 16 collected volumes.
In September 2023, the manga Watari-kun no xx ga Houkai Sunzen announced the production of its respective anime adaptation.

Two years ago, the death of Naoto Watari’s parents left him as the sole caretaker of his younger sister Suzushiro “Suzu” Watari and forced him to move in with his aunt. So attached is he to Suzu that he refuses to join clubs or even date, which has earned him snide comments and the title of “siscon” at his new school. But as long as Suzu is safe and happy, Naoto doesn’t care what anyone says.
