Nintendo has finally released the new game of The Legend of Zelda, showing us that it has no shortage of charming titles and that its franchises will always be the best. In this case Nintendo presents “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” for Nintendo Switch which is a breathtaking adventure.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom finally a game where Zelda is the main character
This new installment of The Legend of Zelda takes us to a place with a similar style to the great Link’s Awakening in which now the long-awaited dream of all Nintendo and Zelda fans has come true, since we can now play as Princess Zelda herself, having now the champion of Hyrule in the background.
The story of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom begins, in a very curious way, as similar to the ending of a typical The Legend of Zelda game, Link manages to defeat a terrifying enemy and rescue Princess Zelda. The only problem is that before he can celebrate, Link is devoured by an otherworldly rift that consumes everything in its path. Zelda manages to escape and this is where our story begins in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, with Link out of the picture, it’s up to Zelda to save him and, at the same time, put an end to the rifts that are now spreading throughout the Kingdom of Hyrule.
It’s certainly a super-genius premise, which particularly when you discover that the rifts can produce imposter versions of those who have been kidnapped, adds an extra layer of drama to the events, which is extremely awesome. You’ll also find clues along the way that allude to the journey Link went through before these events occurred, which makes it feel like you finally get a chance to see what happens after the traditional ending of all the games, kind of like a post game.
It’s more than clear that it’s still a The Legend of Zelda game, which means that structurally it will feel very familiar to anyone who has played any 2D Zelda game before – solve a local problem, go to a dungeon, fight a boss, etc. It’s really exciting to explore Hyrule with this art style, and gazing at the glowing trees of Hyrule Field and the crystal clear waters of Jabul Waters and Faron Wetlands is a treat. The flute rendition of the Hyrule Field theme, complete with a new touch of Zelda’s lullaby, will make your heart burst with happiness.
Many of us would consider The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom a “classic” Zelda, as it takes that old formula and transforms it into something new thanks to the main character. You can’t just walk in with your Master Sword and your Hook, you actually have to think too hard to know how to deal with each situation.
Of course Zelda isn’t alone, as throughout the story he is accompanied by Tri, a small creature from the Still World (the place inside the rifts) who is tasked with reversing the destruction. To summon Zelda’s help, Tri grants Zelda the Tri Rod, which can be used to summon objects and subjects out of thin air. It may sound a bit crazy, but this is where the genius of Echoes of Wisdom’s gameplay lies.
This adventure of at least 20 hours is the dream of any Zelda fan. With classic 2D gameplay and 3D experimentation, the originality of Echoes of Wisdom reminds us that there is room for different types of Zelda games in this world, proving that Link can not only be a hero, beyond remakes and sequels. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a delight, so do not hesitate to buy it, we know you will love it.
