When Luigi’s Mansion 2 came out on the Nintendo 3DS, it made many fans of the green plumber with his adventures, that with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch and Luigi’s Mansion 3, everyone thought it would be overshadowed by the sequel, but the truth is that no and thanks to Nintendo and its fans the big N decided to give a new breath to one of its best 3DS games now available on Nintendo Switch.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD the return of a 3DS classic
There is no doubt that classic video games should be present on modern platforms. But of course, the bottom line is how to do it, as taking a classic or not-so-classic game out of the environment it was originally designed for has its challenges and compromises. This is where Nintendo has gained ground with its remasters of several of its classic games such as Metroid Prime Remastered, Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, and now the great Luigi’s Mansion 2.
The striking thing about Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is its visual aspect, since now we have better graphics, and it seems that the subtitle “Dark Moon” was removed to put HD. But undoubtedly this new version is excellent, but not something out of this world, we must admit. The textures and character models of its original version for the Nintendo 3DS, were worked practically from scratch, giving it a much more detailed appearance for this remastering, but nothing reaches the impressive visuals of Luigi’s Mansion 3, which has one of the best visuals of the entire franchise.
The great thing about this remaster is that connected to the dock, the game reaches the beautiful quality of 1080p, while in portable mode it looks excellent at 720, so now the “HD” in its title is deserved. Likewise, performance is vastly superior to its original version, as the game now runs smoothly at 30fps that doesn’t drop when we’re in a difficult situation, although it would have been too cool to play the title at 60fps.
If you have ever played Luigi’s Mansion 2 on Nintendo 3DS, then you already know what to expect, but if not, we tell you a little about this great title, and is that if Mario is the hero of Princess Peach and the mushroom kingdom, Luigi also has his hero side and it is when Professor Fesor calls him to ask for his help. Because the Shadow Valley, a place full of ghosts that are mischievous, but that place is very quiet, has been involved in catastrophic events that has caused a new mysterious one to appear.
But it does not end there, but the Dark Moon that illuminated it has been destroyed to pieces. Because of this, the behavior of the ghosts has been completely altered, going from being kind to the opposite, so that now the only thing they do is to cause disasters and to make nonstop mischief. So now Luigi will have to recover the fragments of the Dark Moon that have been scattered by different mansions, although he will also have to fight against the ghosts with the help of the great Suctionentities 5000, a device that resembles a vacuum cleaner with which he can catch any ghost.
Conclusion.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is undoubtedly one of the best Nintendo remasters of the year. It looks great, and the new models, animations and revamped graphics make the game close to the glorious Luigi’s Mansion 3, but without surpassing it, The controls were improved thanks to the second joystick on the Nintendo Switch.
Today is the best way to play the game if you didn’t play the original title and even if you did the experience is extremely rewarding, let’s hope and Nintendo also decides to release the first game either in some anniversary edition like Super Mario 3D All Stars but now with Luigi games, or if they ever release a Game Cube service on Nintendo Switch Online.
