Recently, through official media, it was confirmed that the social networks of the American manga and anime distributor Viz Media, known for having in its repertoire works such as Demon Slayer, Naruto, Dragon Ball and many more, has been hacked, more precisely its Twitter/X account, where several changes were seen. From their other media, the company confirmed that they are working to recover the account, but fans were soon surprised to see the strange publications by the company.
Viz Media, the distributor of major works such as Demon Slayer, in trouble with hackers
Currently, Viz Media’s Twitter/X account is hacked, as this can be seen, since it only shows a dot in its name, accompanied by a generic gray profile picture, but the most interesting thing is in the latest publications. Normally, the distributor of Naruto was dedicated to share information about their most recent works for fans to be aware, but since last Monday has been sharing tweets from the accounts “Safety” and “Engineering” of Twitter/X, something very different from the commented.
And although this was already quite rare, during these hours different posts were also shared about a cryptocurrency that bore a name similar to Viz Media’s, but that has nothing to do with the anime distributor, although currently those publications are no longer available. Similarly, so far only the Twitter/X account of the distributor of Demon Slayer is affected, as publications in networks such as Facebook continue with their usual schedule of talking about manga and anime.
Now we can only wait for Viz Media’s account to be regularized, since as we mentioned, the company’s official media are already working to recover its Twitter/X profile.
For those who don’t know it, Viz Media is one of the most important companies when it comes to distributing manga and anime. It was founded in 1986, working since then hand in hand with major Japanese publishers such as Shogakukan and Shueisha, so thanks to Viz, many of the most famous manga have arrived in English, either in physical or digital format, through its Shonen Jump platform or its website. But not only do they publish manga, they also distribute anime on Blu-ray, DVD and streaming platforms, getting more and more people in the West hooked on Japanese culture.
Among its best-known titles are Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Bleach and Death Note, which were giants in the golden age of anime in the 2000s. But Viz has not stayed in the past, they also handle current hits like My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen, which have exploded in popularity. In addition, they continue to bring back classics like InuYasha, Hunter x Hunter and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, ensuring that longtime fans and new generations alike have access to the best stories from the world of manga and anime.
