The respective official media for the anime adaptation of the manga Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru (If my Wife Became an Elementary School Student) have presented new updates about its upcoming premiere in Japan, confirming that the series is scheduled to premiere during the month of October this year. Along with this announcement, the first promotional video for the series was presented, which will be produced by the animation studio “Studio Signpost“.
The anime Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru will premiere in October 2024.
Additionally, the official website of the anime “Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru” introduced its main voice cast, featuring voice actress Aoi Yuuki (Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia, Mami Nanami in Rent-a-Girlfriend and Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries) as Takae Niijima/Marika Shiraishi and voice actor Daisuke Hirakawa (Makoto Itou in School Days and Yuuto Amakawa in Omamori Himari) as Keisuke Niijima. In addition, it was also announced that voice actress Maiko Nomura will play Mai Niijima.
Previously, the anime “Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru” presented the team that will be in charge of its production, among which the following people stand out: Noriyuki Abe will be in charge of directing the anime, while Sawako Hirabayashi will be in charge of supervising and writing the anime’s scripts. Narihito Sekikawa will be in charge of the anime’s character design and Hiroko Yamasaki will be in charge of composing the soundtrack. As mentioned above, the animation studio Studio Signpost will be responsible for the production of the anime.
Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru, also known in the West as If My Wife Become An Elementary School Student, is a slice of life, comedy and romance manga written and illustrated by Yayu Murata. The work began to be published in Houbunsha Publishing House’s Weekly Manga Times magazine since July 2018 and reached its end last December 2022. In addition, Houbunsha Publishing House has collected the manga into 14 volumes in total.
Thanks to the good reception from the public, in the month of March 2023, Houbunsha Publishing announced the production of an anime adaptation for Yayu Murata’s manga. As the months went by, it was confirmed that the series would be released later this year and will be produced by the animation studio Studio Signpost.
“Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru” tells the poignant story of Keisuke Niijima, a man who has lived in darkness since the tragic loss of his beloved wife, Takae, a decade ago. Keisuke’s life has become a shadow of what it once was, deeply affecting his relationship with his only daughter, Mai. Although Keisuke desires Mai’s happiness, his grief and inability to deal with the past have created an insurmountable barrier between them, leaving their relationship stuck in time and lacking a true emotional connection.
In the midst of this sadness and disconnection, the unexpected appearance of an elementary school girl in front of their house changes everything. This girl claims to be the reincarnation of Takae, bringing with her a mixture of astonishment, disbelief and hope.
