For some time now, the voice actor Toru Furuya, known for being the voice of Sabo in One Piece or Yamcha in Dragon Ball, among others, has been making news on the internet, although in this case for a very sad reason, as he admitted to having had a relationship with a young girl underage. He even got the girl pregnant, forcing her not to have the baby, so his image has only been declining over time, having to leave many jobs because of this situation, in what seems to be just the beginning.

Toru Furuya is one of the most emblematic seiyuus that exist in the world of anime, having given life to a diverse amount of characters, such as Sabo in One Piece, Yamcha from Dragon Ball or Rei from Detective Conan, among several others, but this did not save him from being involved in a controversy, a very serious one. A few weeks ago, this man confirmed the allegations against him that mentioned him as a bad person who took advantage of a much younger girl and that even a baby was going to be born as a result of that moment, where Furuya himself intervened so that the young girl would not have it.
Before such an aberrant fact, and after confirming it in his social networks, the 70-year-old voice actor began a debacle not only in terms of popularity, but at the labor level, and is that in recent weeks this has begun to lose many of the jobs for which he was known, in addition to those where he would work. Although he started losing two of his emblematic roles such as Rei in Detective Conan or Sabo in One Piece, in the last days other very important roles have been added to the list, in this case of the next Atlus Metaphor game: ReFantazio.
As stated by a relevant Japanese media, from the company officially announced that the voice actor in One Piece would immediately leave his duties “due to various circumstances”, which were not detailed, but it is more than evident that they are because of the very serious problems that the actor is going through in his personal life. As for which roles Furuya would stop voicing, so far Atlus had not announced which roles he would have, they only confirmed that he would no longer work with the Japanese company.
As expected, and as it has been happening with these news that have as protagonist the voice actor in One Piece, the social networks showed their emotions about this important situation, not only because of the fact of Toru Furuya’s actions, but also because of the repercussions they are having. The vast majority supported the removal of any kind of work, as well as asking not to mix the characters he brought to life with what he ended up doing in reality, so being separated more and more from the medium is the best thing that could be happening.
But not everyone is satisfied, as they believe that, although it is good that he is removed from any kind of work, this is not enough, because the facts that he did, and that are confirmed by himself, are more than enough for him to, at least, spend enough time in prison. Now we will just have to see how things will go, since as time goes by new information is coming to light, all indicating that Toru Furuya not only left his work in One Piece or Detective Conan, but will be losing more and more.
