“Tokidoki Bosotto Roshia-go de Dereru Tonari no Arya-san“, also known as “Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian“, is a romantic comedy light novel written by Sunsunsun and illustrated by Momoco. The light novel began publication in Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint of Kadokawa Publishing House in February 2021 and has 6 volumes published to date.
The work also has a manga adaptation by Tenamachi Saho, which began publication in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket service in October 2022.
Due to the excellent reception of the light novel “Tokidoki Bosotto Roshia-Go de Dereru Tonari no Arya-san” by the public, an anime adaptation of the work was announced in March of this year.
“Tokidoki Bosotto Roshia-Go de Dereru Tonari no Arya-san” introduces us to the life of Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou, a young woman of exquisite beauty and dual heritage, with Russian and Japanese roots. Alisa reigns at her high school as the undisputed idol, with a presence that captivates everyone in her path: silver hair that waves gracefully, blue eyes that mesmerize, and pale skin that seems to glow. However, behind this flawless facade lies an enigmatic personality that intimidates those around her.
Masachika Kuze, Alisa’s classmate, is the exception to this rule. A young man of simple tastes, immersed in the world of anime and gacha games, Masachika arouses Alisa’s interest in a singular way. Although he appears indifferent, he is the only one who manages to capture the attention of the enigmatic idol. In her attempt to protect her vulnerability, Alisa tends to be hard on him, reserving her gestures of affection for the Russian, not realizing that Masachika understands the language and plays at keeping the secret.
As this quirky pair exchange witty and mischievous remarks, their relationship blossoms into a delightful dance, charting a path to romance. In Tokidoki Bosotto Roshia-Go from Dereru Tonari no Arya-san, we witness how Alisa might finally learn to release her truest feelings in this captivating journey toward self-discovery and true love.
