Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun to have a second season

The official media for the anime adaptation of the manga Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) has provided the public with an interesting round of news that has been celebrated by fans with great excitement, as the production of a second season for the TV anime has been confirmed. But this does not end here, the official media for the anime adaptation of the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga also confirmed the production of a sequel to the 4-episode spin-off “After-School Hanako-kun” (Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun). In addition, it was specified that the sequel is scheduled to premiere in Japan during the fall season of 2024.

January 9, 2020 marked the premiere of the television anime based on the manga “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun“, consisting of 12 episodes. The series was produced by the animation studio Lerche, under the direction of Masaomi Andou. In addition, the manga spin-off “After-School Hanako-kun” had its respective anime adaptation, which premiered in Japan on October 13 of this year and consisted of a total of 4 episodes.

“Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” is an anime that delves into the mysterious world of Japanese urban legends, focusing on the famous story of Hanako-san. At Kamome Academy, students talk about the “Seven Wonders,” and one of the most prominent is Hanako–san, the supposed ghost of a girl who resides in the school’s bathrooms. Legend suggests that if someone succeeds in summoning Hanako–san, she will grant any wish to the summoner.

Our protagonist, Nene Yashiro, attracted by the idea of fulfilling her romantic wishes, ventures to summon Hanako-san. However, to her surprise, she discovers that Hanako-san is not a girl, but a boy. Following a series of unfortunate events related to her romantic aspirations, Nene is forced to become Hanako-kun’s assistant, thus entering a supernatural world full of apparitions and secrets.

As the plot unfolds, Nene learns about Hanako-kun’s lesser-known role: maintaining a delicate balance between the world of mortals and that of apparitions. The series offers a unique combination of supernatural elements, comedy and drama, exploring the challenges that arise when personal desires intertwine with the spiritual world.
