Kaiju No. 8 Visual

The anime Kaiju No. 8 has the following description: After the destruction of their hometown, childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro make a pact to become officers in the Defense Force, a militarized organization charged with protecting Japan from the colossal monsters known as “kaijuu”. Decades later, 32-year-old Kafka has all but given up his dreams of heroism. Instead, he devotes himself to cleaning up the remains of the slaughtered kaijuu after they are defeated by brave soldiers, including Mina, who has successfully achieved their common goal.

Upon meeting his new co-worker, Reno Ichikawa, Kafka is confronted with a mirror of his past self: an ambitious young man whose only desire is to fight as a member of the Defense Force. Unfortunately, the two become involved in a bizarre encounter with a kaijuu. Although Kafka displays his innate heroic nature and rescues Reno from certain death, he is seriously injured.

While both recover in the hospital, Kafka appears to be attacked by another of the beasts. As a result, he acquires the ability to transform into a humanoid kaijuu with the strength and powers of the huge monsters that threaten Japan. Dubbed “Kaijuu No. 8” by the military, Kafka decides to use his newfound gifts for the greater good. United by mutual respect, Kafka and Reno set out to join warriors like Mina at the forefront of the Defense Force.
