Silent Hill

The top of the “Silent Hill” after the release of Silent Hill 2: Remake

For Silent Hill fans it has not been an easy wait, it has been 12 years since the last official release of a title of this franchise (Shattered Memories) and 20 years since a title of the original saga (Silent Hill 4: The Room). In the Survival Horror category these games are among the greatest and in psychological horror they are among the most iconic of all time. Or at least that was the original saga of “Team Silent” that included 4 first titles, commanded by Konami and the genius Hideo Kojima, forming an incredible legacy in this genre, that’s why now we will see the best ones in a top.

Silent Hill: Masterpieces recapitulated in one top

5th Place: Silent Hill 3

Silent Hill 3 takes the fifth place and in this one we play the role of a teenage Heather Mason who after losing her father at the hands of “The Order” decides to take revenge. The video game is more inclined to be an action game to the essence of what users are used to, a double-edged sword that puts this fun game in this place: the puzzles become easy, although the enemies become somewhat complicated near the end. Heather’s development towards maturity is impressive and the boss along with the symbolism are excellent.

4th place: Silent Hill

Fourth, is the beginning of it all, Silent Hill, the story of Harry Mason, a desperate father searching for his daughter in the cursed town where, as we advance, we realize that “The Order” have taken her captive to make a sacrifice and resurrect Samael. This game is more about story and puzzles, the introduction of everything that surrounds this town is remarkable and the game is essential for those who want to enter this mysterious world of psychological terror.

3rd Place: Silent Hill 2: Remake

In the middle of the top we place Silent Hill 2: Remake, which was not made by Team Silent, but by Bloober Team, Konami and had the support of Akira Yamaoka who was fully involved in its development and his work can be noticed in each piece of music and in the designs of monsters and characters. The graphics engine used is simply wonderful, the redesign of puzzles changes the tone, new scenarios to discover, but following the same pattern of the original, could not choose a better remake than the second installment which is considered the best work of survival horror and psychological horror of all time.

2nd place: Silent Hill 2

In second place, Silent Hill 2, released in 2001, is considered the greatest psychological horror game in history by specialists. In this game we will meet James Sunderland, who receives a letter from his deceased wife who says she is waiting for him in her special place in the cursed town. This is a linear game, full of tragic stories and one of the most incredible outcomes of all video games, besides having one of the most unexpected “endings” in the saga of Team Silent, for its narrative quality it gets this number.

1st place: Silent Hill 4: The Room

El Top De Los “Silent Hill” Después Del Lanzamiento De Silent Hill 2: Remake

The perfect game, narrative, graphic quality for 2004, alternating between first and third person, a unique story, a terrifying atmosphere at every moment, in no minute you feel comfortable or safe, and it gets worse in the second half of the game, Silent Hill: The Room puts us as Henry Townsend locked in the apartment 302 which can not get out and the only way to do it will be through holes in his room, terrifying worlds await you: A water prison where children were drowned in the cells or an orphanage where they were used for rituals, The Room has the best symbolism and the best enemy design.

This closes a top that takes the best games of the franchise, and while this has had a good number of titles, many of them fail to capture the true essence that sought to give Silent Hill with each of the deliveries mentioned, so inevitably were left out of the top. Similarly, everything that has to do with the world of this franchise, whether books or movies, are at the height of what a horror fan would expect.
