My Hero Academia finally came back and did it with everything in its favor, more than a year we had to wait to see again this modern shounen and to know what will happen to our beloved heroes. Previously, we applauded in a previous note, that the animation shown in its first chapter was the best that the Bones studio has ever done and that it continues to maintain quality over quantity as a guide. Now another factor that is causing a sensation among fans is the opening and the tremendous artist who was in charge of executing it.
The opening of My Hero Academia is performed by one of the greats of the industry.
My Hero Academia finishes putting the icing on the cake with the opening for the seventh season, which aired its first episode last May 4. Fans were fascinated to hear for the first time and officially the opening theme song of the anime, as it turns out that the theme song is performed by none other than TK, or better known as Tōru Kitajima/ TK from Ling Tosite Sigure.
The opening is titled Tagatame, it was officially published by TK on his YouTube account about 3 days ago, this shows us a sequence of quite revealing and shocking scenes, even many fans claim that it contains quite clear spoilers and very impressive revelations. The sequence lets us see how this new season will be crazy, and that at certain times the drama, action and even despair will tinge the atmosphere of My Hero Academia.
Fans were so impressed by the fact that TK performs this opening that they were quick to relate it to his incomparable gem Unravel, Tokyo Ghoul’s theme song in 2013. In fact, a user on Twitter/X put together in a single video these 2 themes of the artist, splicing the most similar scenes to demonstrate that in the new theme of My Hero Academia there are indeed Tokyo Ghoul vibes. What do you think, do you think the rhythm is similar or the scenes of the opening have something in common?
This in turn generates nostalgia for some users to remember how good Unravel’s opening was back in the day, which exposes the fact that it’s been more than 10 years since then. Definitely, time does pass, but thanks to musical themes like these, success and popularity endure allowing us to enjoy these great hits identifying them by characteristic and iconic features of the singer.
The My Hero Academia franchise in these 8 years has shown us around 11 great openings, which have been in charge of artists and bands recognized for their iconic themes within the anime industry, some examples are: the second opening of season 4, “Starmarker” performed by KANA-BOON. The second opening of season 5, “Merry-Go-Round” performed by Man with a Mission. And the antepenultimate with which he delighted us some time ago, “Ours” being this the opening of season 6 by Eve.
Undoubtedly, the My Hero Academia franchise has very clear how to win the support and approval of the fans regarding the anime adaptation. This anime spares no expense and it has become a habit that with each new season it goes all out in terms of animation, musical themes and production. This has been a franchise that fans who have followed it since season one have seen grow, making us get so attached to this project that it will be difficult for us to prepare ourselves to say goodbye.
