It has been announced that the popular manga of the girls love genre called “Yuri is My Job!” (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) has entered into an indefinite pause, which means a hard blow to the fans of the genre, but especially to the followers of this romantic comedy with theatrical touches, beautiful “waifus” and whose highest point of popularity filled with the premiere of its anime adaptation in the first season of the year 2023.

Fans of the “Yuri is My Job!” (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) franchise have been informed through an official press release from the “Ichijinsha” publishing house that the manga will enter an indefinite pause due to health problems related to its author and illustrator, “Miman“. The press release does not make any further reference to the specific problems affecting the author, but it is worth remembering that the publication of the manga had already been on hiatus for a few months. A situation that added to few updates about the author’s health had made the community of fans of the “girls love” genre to start speculating about what was going on.
Sadly, today it has been confirmed what many feared, so for all those passionate about love between girls and more specifically for fans of the adventures of Shiraki Hime and her companions in the cafe “Liebe Girls Academy” will have to wait a little longer to continue enjoying the romance, comedy and drama between this particular group of girls.
“Yuri is My Job!” (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) is a Japanese manga of comedy, life stories and girls love written and illustrated by Miman, whose publication and serialization began on November 18, 2018 in the magazine specialized in works of the girls love genre called “Comic Yuri Hime” in charge of the Japanese publisher Ichijinsha. Currently the manga has 13 compilation volumes in tankōbon format, licensed in English by Kodansha USA and in Spanish by editorial planeta.
On May 14, 2022 it was announced that the story would have an anime adaptation by the studios “Passione” and “Studio Lings”, which would be directed by Hijiri Sanpei, the scripts would be in charge of Naoki Hayashi, as well as the character design by Taisuke Iwasaki, finally the soundtrack would be in charge of Megumi Ōhashi. This adaptation had 12 episodes and premiered on April 6, 2023 during the spring season, Crunchyroll was in charge of licensing the series outside Asia.
“Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!”, or “WataYuri” also known as “Yuri is My Job!“, follows the story of Shiraki Hime, a cute blonde high school girl whose intention is always to show an image of a “sweet and helpful princess” but who is actually a selfish girl whose only interest is in herself. One day Hime in an accident on the public road, injures Mai the manager of a theatrical cafe called “Liebe Girls Academy” where the employees perform as if it were a school for young ladies.
To keep her image as a sweet girl intact, Hime offers to cover Mai’s shifts at the cafe, a situation that will lead her to reunite with an old friend whose relationship did not end in the best way, while also embarking on a new stage that will challenge her “good girl” facade. This is how the necessary elements will be given so that in this new turn in Hime’s life, feelings of love, jealousy and intrigues will begin to develop among her new classmates and some old friends.
