Romance in anime is a frequent genre that we see represented in different ways through the creative eye of animation. Whether as the main theme of the stories or as a complementary one in the various works, it allows us to explore and get to know the characters in situations that let them feel and be moved by another being they long for, producing a multitude of emotions in the viewer. For this reason, the website anime! anime! held a poll to commemorate the day of romance in which fans voted for their favorite romantic anime.
Anime romance stories that have captivated hearts
In celebration of “Romansu no Hi” (Romance Day), a celebration that is celebrated on June 19 in Japan as a result of a play on words between “Ro (6) Man (1) Tic (9)” in which people are invited to spend the day with that important person, the Japanese website anime! anime! revealed the results of the survey conducted between June 7 and 11 in which several people between 19 and 20 years old participated. Here are the first anime that topped the survey conducted by the site.
Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible
Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai or also known as Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible leads the results with the first place. Based on the manga of the same name written and drawn by Nene Yukimori, the story tells the journey of Junta Shiraishi, a high school boy who longs to enjoy his youth, but is considered invisible to both his classmates and teachers. However, Nagisa Kubo, a girl who sits next to Junta, will not let him remain anonymous to everyone around him, immersing us in a romantic comedy story full of peculiar situations that will comfort more than one.
The Dangers in My Heart
Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu or called as The Dangers in My Heart, takes the second position. The work is a manga scripted and illustrated by Norio Sakurai that has a two-season anime adaptation. The story stars Kyoutarou Ichikawa, a shy boy with twisted desires for his classmate Anna Yamada, but as he spends time with her, his perception changes and now, instead of wanting to hurt her, he wishes to stand by her side and protect her.
Kaguya-sama: Love Is War
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen is an anime with three seasons and a movie based on the manga by Aka Akasaka, who was responsible for the script and drawing. The story takes us to Shuchiin Academy, where Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya are the most important representatives of the student council, both being admired and respected by all students for the prestige that emanates from their presence and achievements. But the detail is that both are in love with each other, and neither is willing to confess it, in order for one of them to take the first step, they develop a series of strategies in order for the other to declare himself first.
My Dress-Up Darling
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru or My Dress-Up Darling is a romance anime inspired by the manga of the same name, which was written and drawn by Shinichi Fukuda. The plot follows Wakana Gojo, a high school student who is a Hina doll craftsman, whose goal is to achieve the level of mastery that his grandfather has. Until one day the sewing machine at home breaks down and he decides to make the costumes at school, until he runs into Marin Kitagawa one of the most popular girls, whose goal is to play her favorite characters through cosplay, discovering Gojo’s talent and asking her to help him in his hobby.
Although these are the most recognized by fans, there are other titles that are present in the list, such as Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken, Horimiya, 5-toubun no Hanayome, Toradora! Lv2 kara Cheat datta Motoyuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life, Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo, Fruits Basket, Akatsuki no Yona, among other titles filled with a high dose of romance.
