In this series was where Yume Mizusawa, the author of Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu, managed to reincarnate in the anime A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics as a little girl, thanks to the creativity of his friend Yomi Hirasaka, the author of this story. This type of cameos is not common in the anime industry, so her appearance generated surprise and enthusiasm among fans of her work and the series in general.
Yume Mizusawa creator of Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu appears in the anime A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics.
On April 5, 2024, the anime adaptation of A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics (Henjin no Salad Bowl), the light novel written by Yomi Hirasaka, known for other works, such as his Imouto Sae Ireba Ii, was released. However, the biggest surprise came with his recent series, in its anime broadcast, more specifically in episode 10 with an unexpected cameo, with one of his friends in the industry, and the author of Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu.
It all started from the beginning of episode 10 in A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics , where Princess Sara Da Odin converses with a girl named Yume Mizusawa about Japanese pronouns. In the conversation, the princess suggests that all girls should use Warawa because they are all princesses, here’s where the funny thing comes in. And is that this girl is actually the reincarnated version of light novel author Yume Mizusawa, famous for Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu, a 21-volume work that even had an anime adaptation in 2014 with the same title.
This peculiar tribute was born from the friendship between Yomi Hirasaka and Yume Mizusawa, and it is that the author Hirasaka decided to include Mizusawa in the story in a funny way: imagining him as a girl with pigtails within the anime world. This inclusion is also a nod to Ore’s work, Twintails ni Narimasu, where the main characters also undergo somewhat peculiar transformations.
The appearance of this character in the anime adaptation of A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics, surprised even the author of Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu, Yume Mizusawa, who expressed his surprise on his official Twitter/X account. In his post, he recalled that he had jokingly mentioned the possibility of appearing in the anime if the story ever got adapted, to his amazement, this came true. He also mentioned that the design of little Mizusawa Yume in the anime was exactly as he had imagined her.
The tribute not only brought joy to the fans, but also to Mizusawa himself, who was excited and grateful to Hirasaka-sensei, the production team and the seiyuu Sumire Uesaka, who voiced this little girl, in her version in the anime. Undoubtedly, this episode of A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics will remain in the memory of fans of this work and fans of Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu, consolidating the connection between two great authors of light novels.
