Some time ago, the official media of the romantic comedy manga Kakkou no Iinazuke (A Couple of Cuckoos), written and illustrated by Yoshikawa Miki, made a surprising announcement to the public, which indicated that a very important news would be announced in the coming days. Quickly, this news began to arouse an enormous repercussion in the fans of the Kakkou no Iinazuke franchise and the expectations about a possible return of the TV anime that ended last October 2, 2022, began to invade the groups focused on the series.
Fortunately for these fans, the announcement had to do with the respective anime adaptation of the manga Kakkou no Iinazuke and to their surprise, the production of a second season of the series was confirmed, which will premiere in Japan in the course of the year 2025. The illustration presented by the author of the manga Kakkou no Iinazuke features the presence of the main characters Erika Amano and Nagi Umino. However, it also highlights the presence of Ai Mochizuki, a character who will apparently make his official debut in the new season of the series after receiving a cameo in the last episode of the first season.
It is important to point out that for the moment there is not much information about this new installment of the anime Kakkou no Iinazuke, so it is expected that with the passing of the months new updates will be announced, such as the production team that will participate in the series, as well as a possible premiere date. Kakkou no Iinazuke, also known as “A Couple of Cuckoos” in the West, is a romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Miki Yoshikawa. The work began publication in Kodansha Publishing House’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in January 2020. Currently, Kodansha Publishing has released a total of 23 compilation volumes of the Kakkou no Iinazuke manga for sale.
On April 23, 2022, the manga A Couple of Cuuckos released its anime adaptation which was composed of a total of 24 episodes that have been divided into 2 parts. In addition, the animation studios Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP were in charge of the production under the direction of Akagi Horaki. The series is legally available on the Crunchyroll platform and has an English dub.
Kakkou no Iinazuke presents the story of Nagi Umino and Erika Amano, two young women whose fates are unexpectedly intertwined. Nagi, an ordinary high school student, and Erika, a prominent social media star, suddenly find themselves confronted with a startling fact: they were switched at birth.
When the news shocks both families, an unusual proposal looms over Nagi and Erika without their prior knowledge. In an attempt to restore family harmony and ensure everyone’s happiness, their parents propose an unusual compromise: that Nagi and Erika become engaged to each other and be returned to their respective biological families.
However, Nagi and Erika find themselves at odds with this plan drawn up without their consent. Both strongly resist, refusing to conform to their parents’ wishes. Given the obstinacy of both parties, time becomes the sole judge of the evolution of their relationship and the fate that awaits them.
