Bandai Namco released an animated trailer that will also serve as the opening for the new Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken game, officially titled That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles. As the YouTube video says, this is a full-fledged opening: It has amazing animation that reminds us of the anime made by Eight Bit, it introduces some of the memorable characters from the original work that we will be able to meet in this adventure and it even has an excellent theme song that was made by the band TRUE, which is titled “S.O.S.”.
But the animated opening of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles also gave us our first glimpse of the story of this new videogame, which will allow us to explore in depth the world and characters of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken. This time we will control the main character, Rimuru Tempest who, along with his companions, must travel and explore to build the Jura Tempest Foundation. Although it is confirmed that this new videogame will be faithful to the original plot of the anime and the light novel, it will also include two new exclusive stories. It has even been confirmed that these will be supervised by author Fuse, while illustrator Mitz Vah will contribute designs for some of the new characters.
The colorful world of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken – with its diverse races, fascinating creatures and charismatic characters – really comes to life in this animated trailer. But you’re probably wondering what the gameplay of ISEKAI Chronicles will be like? Well, this will be a 2.5D Action RPG in which you will be able to control Rimuru and the other characters to carry out unbridled real-time battles against monsters and other characters. Not only will you be able to relive the events of the original series, but you’ll also be able to explore this world and even build a huge city full of buildings and structures, which will function as your main base of operations.
Although the graphics leave a bit to be desired (which is understandable, since this game will be available on previous generation consoles) the truth is that That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime ISEKAI Chronicles looks like a really fun adventure that any fan of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken will appreciate. This RPG is being developed by ZOC and Monkeycraft, and will be released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam starting August 8.
