The renowned Japanese imprint “MF Bunko J” has surprised fans of Nigojuu and Umibouzu’s light novel “Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru” (The Detective is Already Dead) by unveiling the official cover of volume #11 of the original work. According to the information provided on the official website of the printing house MF Bunko J, this volume is scheduled to be released for sale in bookstores in Japan on March 25 of this year and will contain a total of 328 pages.
It is worth noting that the cover illustration of volume number 11 of the light novel “Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru” will feature the characters Himihiko Kimizuka and Siesta, who were originally shown as the main characters of the story, but due to certain events in the story, this was interrupted.

“Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru“, known as “The Detective is Already Dead” in the West, is a light novel written by Nigojuu and illustrated by Umibouzu. This work began publication at Media Factory‘s MF Bunko J imprint in November 2019. Currently, the light novel has 10 volumes published and a while ago it was reported that the literary franchise managed to surpass 1 million copies in circulation.
In addition, the work has a manga adaptation by Mugiko, which began to be published in Media Factory‘s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in May 2020. Thanks to the public’s positive reception of the literary franchise, an anime adaptation of the original light novel was announced in January 2021.
On July 4, 2021, the anime adaptation of the light novel “Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru” began broadcasting on television in Japan. The series consisted of a total of 12 episodes and ENGI animation studio was in charge of its production. Currently, the anime is legally available on the Crunchyroll platform under the title “The Detective is Already Dead”.
It is important to note that the anime adaptation of the light novel “Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru” announced the production of its second season last July 2022. This news was announced during the event “MF Bunko J: Summer Festival 2022” and at that time a visual image for this new installment of the series was presented, although not many details were provided about a possible premiere date.
“Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru” plunges us into the life of Kimihiko Kimizuka, who seems to have an unusual tendency to get involved in crime without looking for it, calling himself a magnet for trouble. However, his routine takes a surreal turn when he is kidnapped by a group of strangers and is forced to board a flight where he encounters another kidnapping victim. In the midst of the chaos, Kimizuka encounters an enigmatic and dazzling silver-haired woman, whose pseudonym is Siesta, and who becomes his unexpected savior.
Siesta introduces herself as a legendary detective and proposes to Kimizuka that she become her assistant. Although Kimizuka initially resists, Siesta’s perseverance leads him to join her, kicking off an epic adventure that crosses continents and faces threats that could endanger humanity.
After three years of unpredictable but rewarding coexistence, Siesta’s sudden departure plunges Kimizuka into desolation. Despite her efforts to put the memories behind her, each new encounter seems to remind her that Siesta’s influence will never completely disappear. Thus begins this captivating story, where Siesta’s legacy lives on in Kimizuka’s heart and in the hearts of those who cross her path.
