The participation of the Takopii no Genzai (Takopi’s Original Sin) franchise at the Jump Festa 2025 event brought with it new updates on its anime adaptation. Among these updates, it is noted that the Takopii no Genzai anime is scheduled to premiere in Japan in the course of 2025 and the first promotional video for the series has been unveiled.
Takopii no Genzai to premiere in 2025
The promotional video for the anime adaptation of the Takopii no Genzai manga not only presents the first teaser of the anime, but also shares new information about the people involved in its production. Starting with the voice cast, it was confirmed that voice actresses Kurumi Mamiya and Reina Ueda will play the characters Takopi and Shizuka Kuze.
In addition, the production team involved in the Takopii no Genzai anime was introduced: Shinya Ino will be in charge of directing and supervising the anime’s scripts. The animation studio ENISHIYA is in charge of the production of the anime. Keita Nagahara will be in charge of the character designs.
Takopii no Genzai, also known as Takopi’s Original Sin in the West, is a manga written and illustrated by Taizan 5. The work began serialization in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service in December 2021. Taizan 5 manga was composed of a total of 16 episodes, which were collected by Shueisha publishing house in 2 tankobon volumes.
This December, Shueisha announced the production of an anime adaptation for the Takopii no Genzai manga.
The Takopii no Genzai manga has the following description: A squid-like creature known as Happian leaves his home planet with the desire to spread happiness throughout the universe. He lands on Earth, but its inhabitants soon put him in danger. Fortunately, he is found by a girl named Shizuka Kuze, who nurtures him and names him Takopii. Feeling indebted, Takopii decides to do everything in his power to bring a smile to her face.
However, this is easier said than done. Shizuka is bullied by her classmates, has no father and her mother is never home, yet the seriousness of these problems hangs over the naive Takopii’s head. Still, Shizuka has one source of happiness: his dog Chappy. The connection Shizuka and Chappy share only increases Takopii’s desire to make the girl smile.
Although Takopii’s attempts to lift Shizuka’s spirits lead to unforeseen consequences, he is determined to take things into his own tentacles, test his understanding of humans and achieve his goal of spreading happiness.
