During the Anime Expo 2024, which took place from July 4 to 7, several important franchises in the world of anime, had a space to give interesting news. Among them is Sword Art Online, which presented a trailer of its video game Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, and what particularly caught the attention was that the trailer contained two characters from this universe: Eiji Nochizawa and Yuna.
Yuna and Eiji will be included in the Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream video game.
Both Eiji and Yuna are characters that appeared in the movie Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale, as well as in the manga. Something interesting about Eiji and Yuna is that they are connected to each other in the story, since as those people who know the story will remember, both are childhood friends because they attended the same kindergarten and elementary school; however, their paths separated when they entered high school because Yuna entered a women’s high school.
But it was thanks to Eiji’s invitation, that Yuna ends up joining Sword Art Online, because she was interested in the fact that some musical skills were present in this videogame. To voice Eiji, the person in charge will be Yoshio Inoue, who will retake the role he had previously played in the anime. But, for Yuna, it will be Risae Matsuda, who will be in charge of playing the role, since, as it is already known, the actress Sayaka Kanda who originally voiced Yuna, passed away in December 2021.
This actress was well known in the dubbing world, as she also gave life to the character of “Anna” from the famous animated movie “Frozen”, which in fact was the role for which Sayaka Kanda was best known. In the beginning of her artistic career she only used her name “Sayaka”, however she changed it to her real name later on.
The Sword Art Online franchise shared a video that shows us some images of what the scenario where these two characters will be involved will consist of. It starts showing us a part of the video game where we see Eiji in battle. After 30 seconds, Yuna appears and starts fighting. Later, at 50 seconds we see the two of them together and begin to face an opponent. A trailer showing how Eiji and Yuna will look like in Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream was also shared with us, which you can find in this same note.
According to the information that has been revealed by Bandai Namco, we will have Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream later this year worldwide, to be specific the release date will be October 4, 2024, it was also confirmed that people who pre-order the game, will get a DCL to dress Kirito as a Demon King. So if you are a fan of this franchise, it is a great opportunity to start playing the game, if you haven’t done it yet.
The Sword Art Online (also known as SAO) franchise has become quite successful, its light novels have managed to sell more than 26 million copies worldwide. These got positive reviews, however, unlike other SAO series, it was not praised from the beginning, but these good comments were made in later arcs. On the other hand, the anime has had mixed reviews. Some aspects that have been praised are its animation, the music and the way it explores the psychological side of virtual reality, but, on the other hand, its pacing and writing have been criticized.
