The Sword Art Online franchise, also known by its acronym SAO, has gained popularity thanks to the growth of its universe through different seasons of the anime, movies and OVAs. One of the movies in this world, “Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night“, was released in theaters in Japan in October 2022 and worldwide it was brought to the big screen thanks to Crunchyroll and Aniplex of America in February 2023.

Sword Art Online -Progressive- comes to Crunchyroll
Through its website Crunchyroll shared with us the news that starting February 15, 2024, at 17:00 h PT (Pacific Time), the Sword Art Online movie will be available on its platform in the following countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Nordic countries, Latin America, Europe (except for Italian, Spanish and Portuguese-speaking European countries). This film has a running time of 100 minutes.
The director of this film and its predecessor, Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive-, Aria of a Starless Night was Ayako Kono and the animation studio in charge of the production was A-1 Pictures. These two films are based on the Sword Art Online light novels created by Reki Kawahara. In Japan, this film had a quite positive reception, as it managed to be number one at the box office the weekend of its release, thanks to 199,000 tickets sold, it grossed 2.17 million dollars.
In this movie it has been only two months since ten thousand users were trapped inside this deadly game known as Sword Art Online and our protagonists, Kirito and Asuna continue to struggle to advance to the top, but in this journey they encounter different challenges, one of them facing Asuna’s least favorite monster. So once again we will follow the adventure of Kirito and Asuna in this deadly and dangerous journey to achieve their goal.
Sword Art Online is one of the most popular anime of recent times that gained fame from its first broadcast in 2012. And although there are divided opinions about this anime, there are those who love it and those who don’t, undoubtedly the recognition it has had within the community keeps it always in the minds of the otaku which has allowed it to continue adapting its different stories to anime.
