Over the years, the Super Mario Bros franchise continues to grow in terms of worldwide popularity. As if being the biggest icon of the video game industry were not enough, Mario and his friends have just conquered the world of cinema, with their new animated movie, and the world of amusement parks, with the Super Nintendo World park at Universal Studios. But the Big N is going to continue to take advantage of the popularity of its mascot, so they have just announced this excellent new line of merchandise themed to the franchise. However, only those lucky enough to win a lottery will be able to get them.
Can you win these Super Mario Bros decorations?
Ichiban Kuji is a Japanese lottery service where people can buy a ticket which they can then exchange for a prize. The best part is, each ticket always comes with a guaranteed reward and the lottery usually collaborates with big companies to make sure the prizes are top quality merchandising. They just announced that, starting next October 13, this line of Super Mario Bros products will enter the rotation of possible prizes that you can receive when you exchange their tickets. And they look very high quality.
The collection is excellent for any fan of the red plumber, as it is quite extensive and can basically serve to decorate an entire house. In the images provided we could appreciate: Pictures with Mario, Boos and coins to put on the wall, Mario and Yoshi mugs, chopsticks with Mario & Luigi hats to hold them, a Blooper shaped soy sauce container, a Super Mario Bros calendar, small cloth bags and coasters with images of the franchise, and an incredible clock with a design that reminds us of the spherical level design of Super Mario Galaxy. The idea of being able to get any of these products thanks to a simple lottery ticket is really tempting.
However, just like in any lottery, there’s a jackpot: We’re talking about a huge piggy bank in the shape of the characteristic green pipes from Super Mario Bros. Not only does it look great, but it also plays the classic coin sound from the games every time you insert one into its slot. It’s a really adorable product and we hope that one day it will be officially released, as for now you can only get it if you’re really lucky in the Ichiban Kuji lottery. Surely Japanese Mario fans will go out of their way to get their hands on this piggy bank, based on the positive comments praising it on Twitter and Otakomu.
It’s the year 2023 and it’s surreal to think how much the Super Mario Bros. franchise has grown, not only by having such a large presence on a Japanese lottery service, but also by the fact that there are so many official themed accessories that you could decorate an entire house with them. If you are a Mario fan and live in Japan, you can’t miss the opportunity to get all this merchandise. Otherwise, you’ll have to pray that Nintendo will officially release them in the rest of the world, just like all of us.
