It’s official, Summer Pockets, originally a visual novel by Key, creator of well-known series such as Clannad or Angel beats, will present us with two complete consecutive cours, giving us a refreshing plot of the deep and melancholic ones that its author is used to. In a recent publication within the social network Twitter/X, which presents this new promotional visual for the release of Summer Pockets, new animated project for Key’s visual novel series. This has a date for the next year 2025 and will have 2 consecutive seasons in its respective season, which has not yet been specified. In this visual we observe part of this rural island, as the team likes, which shows the 4 heroines of the original novel.

Being an adaptation of a visual novel composed of routes, in addition to having an extension Summer Pockets: Reflection Blue, the series will be adapted with a neutral look and focused on the characters, not leaning towards one in particular or taking the most “canonical” route according to the original database. The studio in charge for this work is Feel studio, one that is not as well known, but has had outstanding works in its seasons (Oregairu). This follows the thread of posts made by Key offering information about the presentation of the project and its visuals, something we have covered in this note on our page.

Our story in Summer Pockets takes us to the rural island of Toshirojima, a quiet, calm place in the sea that offers a breath of life-giving air, despite the heat of the coasts. Our protagonist, Haikiri Takahara, who was not born on the island, moves to the island because of the misfortune that has come into his life. The death of his grandfather has brought him like the waves to the rocks on the shore, now having to care for his late relative’s estate. On this journey of getting to know the surroundings of this peaceful place he meets four girls, the heroines of this story that has many stories to tell and develop through our footprints.

The girls around us are Shiroha Naruse, who forgot her summer vacation; Ao Sorakado, who eagerly pursues the innermost legends of the island; Kamome Kushima, an upper class girl who is looking for a pirate ship for some reason; and Tsumugi Wenders, a younger girl who tries to undertake one of the most difficult journeys in our life, to find herself. Four girls who will bring very deep moments, who will go through every corner of the island, giving us a detailed glimpse of what is inside it and the people on it.

As we usually see from Key, we expect an impressive piece of work. The new generation may bring just as many tragic moments as its predecessors. In this work Jun Maeda has brought his artistic flair, so we are in for an interesting series of at least 24 episodes.
