Spice and Wolf (Ookami to Koushinryou) is a work that delighted us with a first anime installment in 2008, this year is back now with a reboot. The winter season 2024, is coming to an end, giving way to new anime gems that promise to be incredible and very interesting in this first 2024. Among them is the remembered anime Spice and Wolf, which promises to have a first class animation.
Spice and Wolf returns with a major reboot in the first of 2024
New information about the expected return of Spice and Wolf has been shared through the account @Spicy_Wolf_Prj on X, a detailed post reveals that the first broadcast will be mainly through TV Tokyo along with other media, starting at 25:30 on Monday, April 1. Its official name for this project in English will be “Spice & Wolf: merchant meets the wise Wolf“. The title alone already suggests the premise of this fresh adaptation, but its teaser trailer makes it all clear.

TV Osaka: Every Monday starting from April 1, 2024 at 25:30 a.m.

BS Teletext: Every Tuesday from April 2, 2024 at 24:30 hours (First time at 24:59 hours)
AT-X: Every Wednesday starting April 3, 2024 at 10:00 p.m.
Attention, it should be very clear that this new Spice & Wolf project is not a totally new anime, nor is it a sequel to the previous two seasons, rather it is a reboot of the story. Some people think that the ideal would have been a continuation of the original anime, because this first anime took some creative freedom, and adapted Isuna Hasekura’s light novels quite well. The production team consists of Takeo Takahashi as general director, who returns to work on this new Spice and Wolf anime.
Production is handled by none other than ENISHIYA. The direction of this anime falls on Hijiri Sanpei and Passione studio (studio behind series such as High School DxD Hero and Mieruko-chan). Passione, is a studio that has given a lot to talk about for handling tremendous fanservice and ecchi in their productions, but also knows very well how to manage a balance between these. The chances of doing a good job with Spice and Wolf are quite high. Let’s remember that the previous seasons were the work of other animation studios; the first one by Imagin, and the second one by Brain’s Base and Marvy Jack.
Another great news of Spice and Wolf is that Jun Fukuyama returns to play Kraft Lawrence along with Ami Koshimizu who will play Holo Fukuyama. With this cast fans will definitely enjoy something very nostalgic in this proposal. Finally, the new version of Spice and Wolf will start as one of the first spring anime to debut. As we already mentioned, its premiere will be on April 1st, this implies that Spice and Wolf will be in charge of opening the animation of these next 3 months.

Spice and Wolf is a light novel, which currently has 24 volumes published. It is unknown how far it will be adapted in this first season of the new anime. But we can rest assured, because there is plenty of material for this reboot. The story is based on the traveling salesman Lawrence, who visits the village of Pasloe, where he meets a girl with wolf ears and a wolf tail who introduces herself as the Wise Wolf Holo. From that moment on, Lawrence and Holo embark on an interesting journey together.
