Although the anime of Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) was one of the most significant anime released in recent years, it must be said that its manga is in the same position, being very recognized within this medium, which is why it is not surprising that this is one of the most awarded. And now it added a new award, since this May 14 was held the 48th edition of the Kodansha Manga Awards, one of the most important in the world of manga, and where the story of Sousou no Frieren was placed as the best shōnen of the year, in addition to other winners in different categories.

Today, May 14, one of the most important ceremonies in the manga world took place, being that the Kodansha Manga Awards took place and several awards were given to the best in this medium, but those who were most amazed were the fans of Sousou no Frieren. And the popular story by Kanehito Yamada has been placed as the Best Shōnen, demonstrating the great importance it has within the manga world.
Although the best shōnen won by Sousou no Frieren was not the only award given during this ceremony, but two more categories were presented: Best Shōjo and Best General Manga, being that in this case the winner of this first category went to I See Your Face, Turned Away (Kimi no Yokogao o Miteita). It presents a cute love story where our protagonist imagines a romantic scenario between her pretty friend and the prettiest boy in her class, being that the story, which started as a game, will lead her to think if she really wants to be a secondary character in this story.
On the other hand, the winner for Best Overall Manga was Medalist, where we know the story of Tsukasa, an ice skater who has to give up his dream because of economic problems, and who, working in small events, meets Inori, a girl who has the same dream, but because of her mother she can’t do it. Now both will fight to turn the young girl into a star and fight all the negativity she has had regarding her dream, on the other hand, within this category was also nominated the popular Oshi no Ko, but failed to get the award.
Sousou no Frieren is one of the stories that most impacted fans around the world, which was written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. In the year 2020 the manga would begin to be distributed by the renowned Shonen Sunday magazine, under the Shogakukan publishing label, quickly reaching a mass audience that could enjoy the story of Frieren, which today has 12 volumes. In addition, the success of this manga was such that in 2023 its anime was released, which managed to become one of the best in recent years.
In Sousou no Frieren we will find a captivating story that gives a twist to the classic adventures of heroes, since in this case we will see a group of adventurers who have already finished their journey. Here we will meet Frieren, the elf mage of the group who, due to her race, ages much slower than her companions, so she will inevitably see them leave this world first. But her adventure continues and we will see how she continues with her life, but remembering her past, in this case accompanied by her new apprentice Fern, in a beautiful new story for this elf.
