Previously, we had talked about how Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) is positioning itself as one of the best anime not only of the season, but of the year, in our old note Frieren: YOASOBI does it again! Its opening is a hit! we talked about how not only this adaptation has a good plot, its music is a really important factor to reach the viewers and its main character Frieren is full of doubts and uncertainty like many of us.
The opening of Sousou no Frieren is yet another achievement in YOASOBI’s long list of successes.
The music is as important as the story itself within an audiovisual work, through it we can connect with the characters, we receive different emotions depending on the melody and in this case the opening is the gateway to a work that at first is unknown, so it is very important to choose well so that the presentation is appealing.
Sousou no Frieren has done an impeccable job by choosing the wonderful duo YOASOBI for its opening theme, since this group came to light it quickly became famous and the melodious voice of Lilas Ikuta, at this point is unmistakable, the vocalist is as well known as the acclaimed singers LISA or AIMER, no doubt her long journey has just begun as well as our protagonist Frieren.
As it is in the title, the opening of Sousou no Frieren titled “Yuusha” which you can find in the official YouTube site of the group, since its release to date has already exceeded 10 million views, the theme of Frieren is electrifying, in its first seconds are presented drawings that resemble those seen in a medieval tale, gives a magical and fantastic touch, something that represents in a divine way to the work of Frieren.
The sensational opening of Sousou no Frieren is a delight, you can listen to the melody, you can watch each of the images that are played, every detail captured in the animation is a real madness, the opening of Frieren is interesting and at the same time is melancholic, we witness the journey that is about to begin and like Frieren we will suffer in the process because that is what life is all about.
Similar to the case of the protagonist Frieren throughout our existence we meet people, we move away from people, we regret not being able to meet more of certain friends. Frieren was part of a group of warriors who were in charge of taking down the Demon King, finally the group witnesses an event that happens every 50 years, a beautiful meteor shower (which is alluded to in the opening).
Each one follows his own path where Frieren goes in search of knowledge, so 50 years pass and it is then that Frieren returns to reunite with her group of friends and watch again that magical event, but her surprise with what she finds is so great that it will make her rethink how she lives and how she perceives the passage of time, for an elf and for a human the passage of time and mortality are two things so complicated that Frieren still can not assimilate them.
Sousou no Frieren is a work that is worth to be seen, the journey you are about to witness is better to see it for yourself than to be told, the opening is just the introduction you need to immerse yourself in this adventure, Frieren from its first chapter is out of the conventional, it starts with something that would be similar to a good ending, but what Frieren hides is worth more than that. Give Sousou no Frieren a chance, you won’t regret it.
