Although Sousou no Frieren(Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) ended a few weeks ago, the impact it has achieved in the anime culture is more than important, as its story has become one of the most emblematic of recent years, which was acclaimed by critics and fans alike. And one of the most significant achievements it had was to obtain the highest score in the recognized page My Anime List, dethroning Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, becoming the “best anime in history”, being that a few months after that achievement, it has remained in this position.
After 5 months in the top, Sousou no Frieren continues to lead on My Anime List
With the popularity that the anime Sousou no Frieren has obtained with its premiere, it has become one of the best within the fantasy genre, with the beautiful story that it presented and characters that are already iconic. And thanks to this, it obtained one of the most important achievements within the anime culture: the highest score in My Anime List, the most popular site in terms of this media and that collects the largest number of users when it comes to choosing the best.
But this achievement was not only significant because it was achieved, but also because 5 months after reaching this milestone, Sousou no Frieren remained in first place, which had been snatched away from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the anime that had held this distinction for the longest time. Currently, Frieren has an average score of 9.34, which surpasses the 9.09 that the previous “best anime” has, this score, which, differing by hundredths, is very wide, especially if we take into account that between all other positions there is only 0.01 points difference.
And this achievement by Sousou no Frieren is much more relevant for the fact that it has remained in this position for so long, because in the past there have been several anime that managed to surpass Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, the most famous being Attack on Titan. And although the latter anime managed to position itself as the “best” of all time, its reign was short-lived, as it would lose the throne to the previous anime quickly, so seeing Frieren that remains for so long and also with a wide difference is an achievement to highlight, even if in the future it loses this position.
Sousou no Frieren is one of the stories that most impacted fans around the world, which was written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. In the year 2020 the manga would begin to be distributed by the renowned Shonen Sunday magazine, under the Shogakukan publishing label, quickly reaching a mass audience that could enjoy the story of Frieren, which today has 12 volumes. In addition, the success of this manga was such that in 2023 its anime was released, which managed to become one of the best in recent years.
In Sousou no Frieren we will find a captivating story that gives a twist to the classic adventures of heroes, since in this case we will see a group of adventurers who have already finished their journey. Here we will meet Frieren, the elf mage of the group who, due to her race, ages much slower than her companions, so she will inevitably see them leave this world first. But her adventure continues and we will see how she continues with her life, but remembering her past, in this case accompanied by her new apprentice Fern, in a beautiful new story for this elf.
