Mimic is a magical creature that appears in the Sousou no Frieren series, which since the first broadcast of the anime and manga series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has not stopped reaping success and attracting fans around the world, his fame was increasing generating behind countless products, art and merchandise.
Recently, it was announced that the famous scale figure manufacturer, Good Smile Company, is working on a new piece for its Nendoroid series, it is this shape-shifting monster of Sousou no Frieren that always ends up trapping the protagonist.

Through the official Twitter/X account of one of the company’s employees and from the same official accounts, as well as the Smile Fest 2024 web page where the product was presented, a simple promotional image was shared in which the magical creature of Sousou no Frieren can be seen. In addition to this, a message was posted that its Nendoroid version is on its way, with more details to be announced soon and when it would be available for sale and distribution.
While there are not many details of how this new product will look like, the promotional image gives us an idea of the design that will be given to this iconic beast of Sousou no Frieren. In its main form, the Mimic monster appears as a wooden chest with an ancient and somewhat worn appearance, which makes it look harmless and attractive to other adventurers and, at the same time, an excellent and effective trap into which the experienced elf mage usually falls.
Then, in its true form, it sprouts sharp teeth around the lid which, when opened, reveals a mouth with a bottom seemingly deeper than its original size and a giant, slimy tongue protruding from it and imparting the image of an aggressive creature very hungry for inexperienced adventurers.
The publication of this X user gsc_kahotan (the employee of The Good Smile Company) has generated many reactions and comments from Japanese people who are waiting for the release of this Nendoroid figure of Sousou no Frieren. Some were amused by the news, since this is a very peculiar character that appears very few times, but nevertheless, has managed to penetrate well in their followers, since it gave rise to some of the comic and memorable scenes that can offer this entertaining franchise.
For those who do not know, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) is a successful manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe that have been serialized since 2020 and then, in 2023, had an anime series adaptation in which the legendary animation studio Madhouse participated.
