The official X/Twitter account of the Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) franchise has shared a special illustration that has excited both fans and fans of Gosho Aoyama’s classic manga Detective Conan (Case Closed/Meitantei Conan).
In the illustration, the characters Conan and Frieren, protagonists of their respective franchises, can be seen sharing a moment together: Frieren holds Conan in her hands while he decorates her tiara with flowers.
Sousou no Frieren and Detective Conan make a crossover in illustration
However, it should be noted that this special illustration has been created with a special purpose and it is that it commemorates a photograph that the author of the manga Detective Conan (Case Closed/Meitantei Conan), Gosho Aoyama, has taken. In the photograph below, we can see how Gosho holds in his hands the characteristic Frieren plush toy that Sousou no Frieren’s X account shares on a daily basis.
It should be noted that, counting the people reached in both publications, these count more than 15 million reproductions, showing how delighted fans have been with this curious crossover between the two franchises.
Sousou no Frieren has the following description:
During their decade-long quest to defeat the Demon King, the members of the hero’s party-Himmel himself, the priest Heiter, the dwarven warrior Eisen, and the Elven mage Frieren-forge bonds through adventures and battles, creating precious, unforgettable memories for most of them.
However, the time Frieren spends with her comrades amounts to only a fraction of her life, which has spanned more than a thousand years. When the group disbands after the victory, she returns to her “usual” routine of collecting spells across the continent. Due to her different sense of time, she does not seem to have strong feelings towards the experiences she has lived through.
As the years go by, Frieren gradually realizes how her days in the group of heroes affected her. Witnessing the death of two of his former companions, Frieren begins to regret taking their presence for granted; he vows to understand humans better and create true personal connections. Although the story of that memorable journey is long over, a new story is about to begin.
