Since its premiere in 2023 and with the completion of the second part of the first season in 2024, Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) has become one of the most important series, not only in recent times, but in the history of the anime world. And although fans are waiting for the second season to be released in January 2026, the good news keeps on coming, as the anime adaptation of Kanehito Yamada’s work has been crowned as the best anime of 2024 at the Anime Trending Awards, in addition to winning several other awards.
Sousou no Frieren wins several awards at the Anime Trending Awards
The renowned account specialized in anime and tops of this genre, Anime Trending, held in the last hours its Anime Trending Awards, an awards gala that seeks to recognize the best series that premiered during the past year, with very interesting categories such as: best anime of the year, best male character, best female character and more. And in this event, the big winner was none other than Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), which in the year 2024 ended with its first season and managed to get a lot of awards.
Among these, the most important of all was to be crowned as “Anime of the Year”, the highest award given and that was achieved after being the best of 2024, but that was not all, since it was also crowned in other categories such as: Best adaptation, Best in visuals, Adventure of the Year and Fantasy of the Year. On the other hand, although Sousou no Frieren won a good amount of awards for the anime, one of its characters also won an award, Himmel was chosen as the Best Supporting Male Character of the Year.
After receiving the award for best anime of the year 2024, Yuichiro Fukushi, producer at Madhouse, the studio in charge of delivering the animated version of Sousou no Frieren, left some words, such as thanking all the fans for watching the series and for their continued support. He also highlighted the work of all the staff in charge of making the adaptation, being that he saw firsthand how they worked tirelessly to be as faithful as possible to the original work. Finally, he mentioned how this award will be a great motivation to keep working continuously and in the future to continue bringing quality animation.
On the other hand, the fans in the comments of the different publications did not wait to show their feelings, being that the vast majority mentioned how this was something that was expected, since Sousou no Frieren quickly became one of the best adaptations of all time. In addition, several were those who highlighted how this series managed to be crowned in a year with very interesting works, such as Dandadan or Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! among others. Now we will have to wait for the release of the second season in January 2026 to see if Sousou no Frieren will continue to live up to the expectations.
