In the last few days, after the premiere of the live action Sono Bisque Doll has received endless criticism, since they decided to censor the iconic swimming costume seen in the anime/manga. Because of this, fans started to compare between the JAV parody and the original work, coming to the conclusion that it is a complete lack of respect.

After the airing of the second episode of the Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo suru Live Action series in which the mythical scene where Gojo takes Marin’s measurements was covered, fans were not completely happy. Many fans took to social media to complain, as they saw the scene as an attempt at censorship.
However, such was the reach of the fans that the J-AV parody of Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo suru, with many commenting that the J-AV version was much better than the official live action. Soon after, they made the term ‘AV’ (Adult Video) trend on Twitter, as Japanese people started commenting that even an adult movie can adapt this scene better than the official live action.
Comments such as ‘She looks like a crazy chick trying to act young even though she’s older’, ‘Was there any restriction imposed by her office, Anyway, she doesn’t look like a gyaru. She just looks like any other blonde‘, “What is that, a second-rate AV?, ”If I were the author, I would never have approved it’ could be seen on X while the term JAV was trending.
What no one expected was that the actress of JAV DVRT-006 known as @aimi__rika in X, came out, thanking all the fans for liking her version much more than the official live action. This adult version recreates the same scene, but apparently in a more faithful way, so the most hardcore fans of the franchise now consider this JAV as the real live action of Sono Bisque Doll.
In case you’re not familiar with the franchise, Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo suru, also known as My Dress-Up Darling on this side of the pond, is a romantic comedy manga written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. This work began publication in January 2018 in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine, with a total of 13 compilation volumes currently published. Shinichi Fukuda’s manga is still being published by Square Enix.
The anime adaptation of the romantic comedy manga Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo suru began airing on Japanese television on January 8, 2022. The series consisted of a total of 12 episodes and the animation studio CloverWorks has announced a second season which to date, no details have been revealed about this continuation, and at the moment there seems to be no indication that new updates will be released soon.
As of today, it also has a live action adaptation that is not the most beloved of all. You can enjoy the anime on Crunchyroll, either subtitled in English or dubbed in English.
