Sonic Dream Team, a title developed by the HARDlight studio and edited by SEGA, was presented a few hours ago through a dazzling trailer that showed the new adventure that will star the industry’s best-known blue hedgehog. This 3D platform and action game will arrive exclusively for the Apple Arcade system with the promise of bringing Sonic back to those golden days and boosting even more the apple giant’s bet in the competitive sector of mobile gaming. A dream speed – Sonic Dream Team
There is no doubt that the franchise based on Sonic the Hedgehog or Sonic, is living a second golden age since a few years ago. Incredible fan-made games (made by fans) and big budget releases (Sonic Frontiers) have been demonstrating that both SEGA and the SONIC TEAM have full confidence in their mascot and the future it has as a transmedia product after the great success of its worldwide theatrical release.
This time the new Sonic adventure will take us to a bizarre dream world where we must rescue our friends and stop the evil Dr. Eggman in his new attempt to dominate the world. Below we leave you with a summary of the main plot brought to you thanks to SEGA:
Sonic the Hedgehog is back with Sonic Dream Team! In this new adventure, the evil Dr. Eggman has discovered The Reverie, an ancient artifact capable of manifesting dreams in the real world.
This time you must rescue your friends through twisted dreamscapes as you unravel an original and captivating story, run, climb, fly and take control of the contraption that can make dreams come true!
Likewise, we had access to the gameplay features that will be key to enjoy Sonic Dream Team:
- Six playable characters: Here you can choose from six different characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, Cream and Rouge. Each has their own personal touch, fitting into the three types of moves that will allow you to uniquely explore the intriguing world of dreams.
- Incredible “Boss Battles”: A total of four spectacular bosses will test your skills and mastery of the different types of moves you can find in the game.
- Worlds never before seen in a Sonic game: Say goodbye to Green Hill! This time you’ll play through 12 labyrinthine levels set in four brand new dream worlds. These include sections where you’ll run along walls, experience gravity changes and much more.
- A mobile and multiplatform adventure: Sonic Dream Team says goodbye to the gap between mobile and console. This will allow you to enjoy a Triple A experience on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV devices.
Finally, and as was to be expected, some Sonic fans could not hide their dismay when they learned that this promising experience was going to be exclusive to the Apple ecosystem. Through the comments box, hundreds of users expressed their discomfort, arguing that the exclusivity of the game was “somewhat unfair” given how striking the new proposal from SEGA and the HARDlight studio is. At the moment there has been no further statement about this news, remaining only as a sign of Apple’s clear intentions to enter fully into the mobile gaming market.
