Solo Leveling: Crunchyroll claims to be responsible for the anime

In recent years, Korean comics have become very relevant and one of these titles is undoubtedly Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken), which since its release has attracted attention for its story and development, in addition to the incredible drawing that characterizes it. This title, like many other equally popular titles, has entered into a controversy in the animation industry due to certain comments.

Its popularity began to spread in an inordinate way from that announcement, to this was also added a video game in development inspired by the franchise. And what many fans were waiting for, which have begun to be published by Editorial Panini. With the first episode it managed to displace one of the episodes of One Piece.

Consequently, the premiere of Solo Leveling collapsed Crunchyroll’s servers. And now not only that, because recently, the famous content distributor has entered into controversy thanks to a talk that CEO Rahul Purini had in a podcast with The Verge. In which he talks about how management decisions influenced the adaptation of the manwha.

According to what was said during this talk, what stood out was the topic of the recent animated adaptations, such as the case of Solo Leveling, since this has been possible thanks to the “cooperation” of both the animation studios and the fans, and of course of the others involved, such as them, who besides being in charge of distribution are also investors.

Stating the following, “Our team read the manhwa, liked the IP, and we took it to one of our sister partners in Japan, Aniplex, and co-produced the series with them. It’s been very well received by fans around the world! So that’s an example of when we co-produced a series we brought to the table based on what we were hearing from our fans.”

He then added, “Sometimes, certain stories may not be what our partners can create and produce primarily for Japanese audiences. So, we step in and invest with our partners because this might be something we strongly believe in for our international audience. So we take that step and co-produce with our audiences.”

It is undoubtedly that Crunchyroll to some extent developed the production of Solo Leveling as well as the other partners, we must also recognize that everything starts with the support of the fan readers who position the story, and obviously seeing its overwhelming popularity and sales, they decide to support projects of such magnitude, because there are many benefits in between and in the end it is the same for the fans who expect more future adaptations of different manwhas. Tell us, what do you think about this?
