SIFU is one of the best indie games released in 2022. Since then, Sloclap’s title has surpassed 3 million copies sold on all platforms where it has been released due to its easy optimization and accessibility. This story quickly endeared itself to indie fans for its easy gameplay and emotional narrative that, in short, is a story of revenge that shares elements with the John Wick universe. For its part, Keanu Reeves‘ story earned a place of respect in action cinema thanks in part to Chad Stahelski, its director, who was very interested in directing an adaptation of SIFU.

Since the launch in February 2022 for PS4 and PS5 and subsequent releases for Xbox Series in November of the same year, SIFU has been considered one of the best indies of history, action and of this decade. Without exposing otherworldly graphics and with an Unreal Engine 4 engine, the video game is a beat ’em up set in China with a combat that combines martial arts and use of classic weapons and the use of the mechanics of “advancement in time” where the character ages as he dies.
As the protagonist dies, he ages due to a talisman and this “aging” can be a double-edged sword, because it reduces the speed, but at the same time makes him more skilled and strong, however, when reaching a certain age, the character dies permanently and everything must restart being both challenging, fun and interesting. Although this story would seem a challenge to adapt, the original series Secret Level, aired in December 2024 on the Amazon Prime Video platform, managed to make a special chapter in honor of SIFU, which narrated in detail its events.
This story is essentially a revenge story where we control SIFU’s son, a martial arts school master, who seeks revenge on “Yang” and other clans who killed his father. The title shares elements in its narrative and gameplay with the John Wick saga, which consists of 4 movies, directed by Chad Stahelski and where its main reference was and continues to be Keanu Reeves. This franchise reached the small screen with Amazon Prime’s original Continental series. It was the same director of the films, Stahelski, who expressed his interest in directing SIFU.
According to public statements to Deadline, the streaming platform would be intimately involved in this production, having as screenwriter T.S. Nowlin who adapted the written works Maze Runner and Adam Project and of course Chad Stahelski mastermind behind John Wick and founder of 87 Eleven Entertainment as producer along with his team.
Although it was already known that there were intentions to make a Live-Action movie of the video game developed by Sloclap, it is believed that it was postponed by the successful and acclaimed fourth part of John Wick, although Chad Stahelski is organizing his other projects that include:

After the huge place of respect as “one of the best action movies ever” that the John Wick saga deservedly earned, SIFU’s success for the characteristics that both universes and protagonists share is practically assured. The game from French developer Sloclap is available in all digital stores today and is well worth a spin in this immersive narrative with innovative mechanics.
