Two of the characters that have captivated us the most in recent years are Anya Forger from “Spy x Family” and Frieren from “Sousou no Frieren”, very different characters in personality, design and evolution, but something they both share is that the talented “seiyuu”, Atsumi Tanezaki is the one who gives them life and voice. Today, in an interview for “日テレNEWS” she revealed what it’s like for her to work as a voice actress and also shared some tips on how to become one.
To the question “What is it really like to be a seiyuu?“, Atsumi-san answers that sometimes it can become “painful“, as it is something she likes to do and to be auditioning to subsequently be accepted and at one point end her participation in the project “is always something difficult”, but that beyond that she thinks a very satisfying life due to the fact that she feels fulfilled by giving voice to a very heterogeneous variety of characters. She also recognizes that since she was a child she always wanted to be a voice actress and to achieve her dream she had to leave her old job as an office worker.
The prolific seiyuu also responded to questions about what she advises beginners in voice acting to achieve their dream. She told the anecdote that we mentioned about how it was the dream of her life and that she had to leave her old job in order to achieve it, something that she catalogs as “very difficult“, but that what she advises beginners is to really focus their efforts on what they want and without distractions in order to achieve it, although she also pointed out that she still feels that her desire is not yet fulfilled, because she has many goals in the future in which she continues to work.
She also advised that no matter if your goal is to be a seiyuu or not, you should do your work until you feel satisfied, because that is the key to success: enjoy the activity you are going to do no matter what it is. This interview left many other more interesting things, but the important thing was that Atsumi-san told a little more about how is the life of a voice actress in terms of her work in the industry, which can be very satisfying, but it is not easy at all. This confirms once again that the talent of these actors and actresses is critical to the industry and we hope that in the future we will continue to enjoy the talent of Atsumi Tanezaki.
