The popular light novel series, Riso no Himo Seikatsu (The Ideal Sponger Life), written by Tsunehiko Watanabe and illustrated by Jū Ayakura has had great news lately, such as reaching the figure of 4.9 million copies in circulation, which includes both physical and digital manga. But besides this, another great news from the franchise is that it has been confirmed that it will have an anime adaptation, which excited the fans of this story.
Riso no Himo Seikatsu anime confirmation elicits mixed reactions from fans
Through official sources on Twitter/X, it was confirmed that the Riso no Himo Seikatsu light novel series would get an anime adaptation and in this publication, the followers of this story made their opinion known about this great news, some of the comments that were on this social network, were “Finally! I’m addicted to this series”, “Sounds great. I love this manga, I wonder which studio is going to animate it” “I’ve been waiting, I hope it comes out a little sooner” “It’s too much to wait! I’m too happy” “This is a work that deserves to be made into anime! I have to re-read it from episode 1! I want everyone to like this work!”
Some people expressed their concern about this project, as they wanted a good job to be done with the adaptation of Riso no Himo Seikatsu, and expressed this through comments such as “I want the animation to be developed carefully and without rushing. I wish they would stop trying to finish most of the previously published books in one episode.” And they also wondered what route they would take to animate it “What route will they take to animate it? Is it a romantic comedy route? Is it a slow-burn lifestyle? I can’t predict.”
There is still no further information about this Riso no Himo Seikatsu project, for example the animation studio that will be in charge of bringing us this series, who will be the cast that will voice the characters, a release date or which artists will be in charge of the opening and ending themes for this anime series. But as we could see with the comments of the fans of this series, the project is something that has them quite excited and waiting for news to see this story adapted to the small screen.
Riso no Himo Seikatsu began to be published online in June 2011 through a website specialized in publishing light novels, Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Subsequently, in September 2012, it began to be published by the company Shufunotomo, it is still in publication and to date has 15 volumes. In February 2017, a manga adaptation featuring illustrations by Neko Hinotsuki began to be published in Young Ace magazine, currently the manga has 19 volumes published.
The story of Riso no Himo Seikatsu tells us about Zenjiro Yamai an office worker who lives in present-day Japan, but who from one moment to another is summoned to another world. The person responsible for this is Queen Aura, since she wants Zenjiro to marry her, forgetting his previous life in order to have a rich and comfortable life being her husband and at the same time the Prince Consort. The condition if he accepts this deal is that he must give an heir to the Queen, but other than that he can rest all day without having to worry about working as he did before.
Upon accepting his offer, he discovers a world full of magic, as well as a very different culture where there are nobles who have many secrets and very ambitious plans. It is a completely different world, where words and gifts are not always what they seem, having hidden meanings.
