Resident Evil 4 Remake, the recent remake of Capcom’s classic horror & action title, is considered one of the best video games of all of 2023. It was praised since its original release for its dark atmosphere, detailed graphics and improved gameplay, but fans were still able to enjoy constant updates throughout the year. In September, Separate Ways, Ada Wong’s downloadable campaign, was released. And now another DLC is about to arrive that will let you dive into the Resident Evil 4 remake in a completely different way. It will be 100% free.
Take a look at Resident Evil 4 Remake VR Mode
Capcom has just released this launch trailer for Resident Evil 4 Remake’s VR Mode, confirming that players will be able to re-experience Leon Kennedy’s entire campaign in Spain in this mode. It’s worth noting that, like the other VR modes in the franchise, this DLC will be exclusive to PlayStation VR2, so it will only be playable on PlayStation 5. The device in question has a 4K HDR display and 3D audio, so players will be able to immerse themselves in this terrifying game in a truly impressive way.
Based on what we saw in the trailer, it’s clear that Capcom’s developers put a lot of effort into making even the smallest detail of Resident Evil 4 Remake translate properly to virtual reality mode. Leon’s weapons seem to feel great, and will need the player’s precision to hit enemies. Even knife combat will be available, which will feel even more realistic in virtual reality. Resident Evil 4 VR Mode also contains a shooting range (similar to the one in the base game) where players will be able to test their skills with all the weapons in their arsenal.
The funny thing is that the original version of Resident Evil 4 also received a virtual reality version for Oculus Rift in 2021. So now there are VR versions of both titles, exclusive for different devices. However, Resident Evil 4 Remake was praised for keeping the essence of the original, but adding enough changes and twists in the process. So we can safely say that these two VR versions will be different enough from each other to justify playing both (If you have both an Oculus Rift and a PlayStation VR2).
Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil 4 Remake’s VR Mode will be released on December 8, 2023, and will be a completely free download for the PlayStation 5 version of the video game. A free demo of the DLC will also be available on that day, for those who wish to try it out before downloading the full mode. On the other hand, there is still no confirmation as to whether the mode will be available for the Xbox X/S and PC versions in the near future.
