The recent remake of Resident Evil 4 was one of the best video games released this year, with its amazing graphics, improved combat system and refreshing extra content. It was great to relive this adventure on our modern consoles, but many fans of the classic original were left wondering about something: Where was Ada Wong’s campaign? The PlayStation 2 version of RE4 came with an extra mode called Separate Ways, which showed the game’s story from Ada’s perspective. Since it was left out in the initial release of the remake, many thought that Capcom was saving it for an inevitable DLC… and they were right, because that’s exactly what they just announced.
New Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC to arrive in a few days
Officially revealed in Sony’s State of Play broadcast yesterday, Resident Evil 4 fans finally got what they were asking for, because Ada Wong’s “Separate Ways” campaign will arrive to the remake very soon as downloadable content. This campaign was present in most of the original versions of the game, and it seems that the remake will be quite faithful to the original. In this adventure, we will control Ada Wong as she works with Albert Wesker in search of Luis Serra and the Amber that unleashed the Las Plagas virus. Separate Ways takes place at the same time as Leon Kennedy’s story, and will let us see in detail what Ada was doing while Leon fought to rescue Ashley Graham.
We couldn’t see much of the gameplay of Separate Ways in this short trailer, but we can get an idea of how it will be to control Ada Wong, based on the few images and on how it felt to play with her in the original Resident Evil 4. Ada is a bit more athletic and fast than Leon, especially because she can use her grappling gun to reach high places and even to maneuver around large enemies, like El Gigante. However, in the original version the grappling gun could only be used in specific places as a Quick Time Event, while it seems that the remake will let us use it freely wherever we want, a necessary improvement.
But the most surprising part of this announcement was the release date: Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways will be available from September 21st That’s right! In just a week! No wonder they took so long to reveal it, since now it will come out a few days after its initial announcement. It will have a modest price of 9.99 dollars and can be downloaded for all versions of the remake, including those of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Which is good news, since many thought that the DLC would skip the previous generation consoles.
As if that wasn’t enough, we also got to see a bit more of the Virtual Reality version of Resident Evil 4 Remake, and it was confirmed that Ada Wong and Albert Wesker will arrive to the Mercenaries mode in a free update. When we all thought that Capcom wasn’t going to release any more content for this great game, they proved us wrong. RE4 Remake is an incredible title, but these additions will make it even better. We can’t wait to try Ada Wong’s DLC in a few days.
