Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) announced last month that he would be releasing a video game of the franchise titled Rent-A-Girlfriend: The Horizon and the Girl in the Swimsuit. This brought different reactions from the followers of this series, since Rent-a-Girlfriend itself has been a much criticized franchise since the manga, which is its original material, its anime adaptation and this time its new version as a video game. If you are interested in knowing the details about this novelty, we invite you to continue reading this article.
The Rent-a-Girlfriend video game has caused controversy among fans of this franchise.
It has been confirmed that the release date of this product will be November 28 in Japan, we also know that it will cost 8,580 yen, or 58.30 dollars at the current exchange rate. Likewise, many of the details of what we can expect from this Rent-a-Girlfriend videogame have already been shared. To begin with, we know that there will be a limited version that will be priced at 12,980 yen, or $88.20 dollars.
This limited edition will include four discs with a Drama CD and an official soundtrack. The Drama CD will contain four situations that recreate the illusions of Kazuya Kinoshita (maid, stepsister, newlywed life and high school student), which will allow you as a fan to experience fantasy situations, just as the Rent-a-Girlfriend protagonist has imagined them. The soundtrack contains more than 30 melodies and totals approximately two hours, including the original theme song “Cider no Mukou”, performed by the five heroines.
The Rent-a-Girlfriend video game will contain an original story set in the summer on the island of Enoshima. People who choose to play this game will be able to experience an original story that could have occurred in the third season of the anime. Kazuya Kinoshita raised money through crowdfunding to film a movie that would star Chizuru Mizhuara, but it turned out that it wasn’t enough, so to make up for the lack of funds, Kazuya remains on Enoshima Island to do part-time summer jobs with the four heroines. It will be impossible for something not to happen while they are all under the same roof.
Finally, another thing we have been informed about regarding the Rent-a-Girlfriend video game is that each heroine will have the same voice as in the anime, which will allow users to enjoy the game as if they were watching the series. The voice actresses present in this game will be Chizuru Mizuhara (voiced by Sora Amamiya), Mami Nanami (voiced by Aoi Yuuki), Ruka Sarashina (voiced by Nao Touyama), Sumi Sakurasawa (voiced by Rie Takahashi), and Mini Yaemori (voiced by Yuu Serizawa).
According to the description of the Rent-a-Girlfriend video game, we know that the protagonist might not stay with any of the heroines. That is why, many people are upset because they think that this guy might repeat the same “problematic” attitude that characterizes him in the anime, even being considered as one of the worst protagonists in romcoms. This is the reason for the distrust of many Rent-a-Girlfriend fans, who wonder if this material will bring something fresh or positive to the franchise.
Many people hope that this new material that we will have in the video game will have a change unlike the manga and anime, since, as mentioned above, there have been several criticisms to these materials on many occasions and their followers truly expect a change and not “more of the same” where they continue to see the protagonist who they consider not to be able to develop their love relationships and make a decision.
