Rent-a-Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu) is a quite popular romantic comedy series that has gained the attention of the public with its story that keeps its followers captive, even if it is not always in the best way, as it happened this time the manga gave something to talk about, since the readers of this story complained about a small detail related to the design of the characters and their lower garments. Many people argued that these clothes were much better drawn than the characters themselves in the story.
According to Rent-a-Girlfriend fans, the design of the undergarments is better than that of the characters
A user on social networks shared several panels from volume 28 of the manga, specifically from chapter 243 where we see Kazuya in a laundromat, when Chizuru enters. They begin to have a casual conversation and after exchanging a few words, Chizuru says goodbye. After this, when putting the clothes in the washing machine, Kazuya finds a “sensual” bra, he thinks it could be Chizuru’s and wonders what he should do with it, but at that moment Chizuru returns and in an attempt for her not to see that scene, Kazuya puts all his clothes in the washing machine without turning it on, but she had only returned to give him a ticket for his next play.
It is this scene where the garment is seen that gave rise to a wide discussion for those parts of the chapter, because if we observe well the design of these items, they look quite well defined and very well drawn, so the fans of Rent-a-Girlfriend began to complain that the drawing of these clothes is much better done and defined than the same design of the characters. And this is not the only time we have seen this type of garment drawn in the manga and the detail is always very well done, which is why it was something that caught the attention of the manga readers.
In social networks, users posted their opinions regarding the topic and we came across comments like “It’s really crazy to think that there are more patterns in that corset than neurons in Kazuya’s brain” “The lingerie has more details than the development of the characters” “If some other comments didn’t say this is from Rent-a-Girlfriend, I would have assumed this was a cutout of a horror panel coming from Oyasumi Punpun, why the hell is it drawn this way?” “I’m screaming with this. It’s even funnier when you put it next to other panels.”
User @Miyajimareiji on Twitter/X praised the great talent that the magaka of this story has for making very detailed drawings, however felt that he should focus solely on the drawings and let someone else handle the story, to complement the above point, just one person added that if Rent-a-Girlfriend had a writer half as good as his art, it would be a work worth giving attention to. Even one person was saying that he could be doing a very good NTR story, but he’s holding himself back.
A lot of people rightly emphasized this point, about how talented the Rent-a-Girlfriend mangaka is, and that it’s a shame that his story is so bad because he could really make a work of art if his stories were of the same quality found in his drawings. And looking at it from another angle, one person commented that they considered that the mangaka was stealing from his followers, since, for three years now, the plot has not been advancing and yet people continue to buy his story.
