The trailer for Ranma 1/2, released on July 17 on MAPPA’s YouTube channel, presents a sneak peek at the new adaptation of the classic anime. The video shows the main characters, Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, in action, as well as some of the humor and action elements that made the original series famous, however, fans were quick to note the absence of a crucial character: Master Happosai. This eccentric martial arts master is one of the most beloved characters from the original series, and his absence from the trailer has raised concerns among some fans.

Master Happosai in Rumiko Takahashi’s manga and anime series is notable for his role as the dwarf martial arts master of Genma Saotome and Soun Tendo, and is known as the founder and grandmaster of Free Combat, a martial art form that mixes powerful techniques with outlandish and mischievous behavior. Happosai is a key figure who constantly annoys and provokes Ranma Saotome.
Starting October 5, 2024, fans will be able to enjoy the highly anticipated remake of Ranma 1/2, airing every Saturday in Japan. This acclaimed series will be broadcast nationwide on the Nippon Television network and will be available immediately afterwards exclusively on Netflix for online viewing, promising to take viewers into a new era of comedy and martial arts-filled adventures.
Ranma 1/2 chronicles the adventures of Ranma Saotome, a skilled martial artist who, due to an accident during training in China, transforms into a woman whenever he comes into contact with cold water, while hot water returns him to his male form. Back in Japan, Ranma becomes involuntarily engaged to Akane Tendo, a temperamental and talented martial artist, in an arrangement devised by his parents.
