It’s official, the long awaited remake adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s renowned classic Ranma 1/2 is officially in production, making the news a big one for those who have been waiting for decades. In recent hours, the mangaka and author of the Ranma 1/2 manga, Rumiko Takahashi has made it official giving us the words we all wanted to read, “A totally new Ranma 1/2 anime will be produced”.

In a recent update of the official Twitter/X account of the renowned mangaka Rumiko Takahashhi, where she usually publishes things concerning her works or her works in broadcast, has made official today the rumors, which had been rumored for months or rather years since a new series of the 80-90’s classic had been rumored. Being stronger every year, until the present year 2024, where the rumors began to spread stronger on external sources that the mangaka has made real with her announcement today.
This news is a huge impact for the industry, since we must remember that Rumiko’s works are part of the pillars of anime at the beginning of the century, just like Eikichiro Oda or Akira Toriyama. Thus, the production of one of her works is a sign of many fans waiting for it, as what is happening with Urusei Yatsura, one of her masterpieces. Now Ranma becomes a woman every time water falls on him, to reverse this he only has to use hot water, but not only this, thanks to a promise made by his father, he must marry one of the daughters of his father’s best friend, being the chosen one Akane Tendou. And she is the only one who, according to her sisters, could be a good wife for the young Ranma.
The relationship between the two is complicated, since Ranma is not the most gentle and cue boy, plus Akane is a girl who is not compatible with Ranma, the only thing that keeps them together is the promise of their parents and martial arts. This romance story progresses slowly through the work, with very epic battles, a lot of absurd comedy, characteristic of the mangaka, and numerous, very charismatic characters that enchant you at every appearance. Ranma 1/2 is the pillar of romance, romcom and comedy offered by Rumiko in the 80s. Now we can only wait for new details for this long-awaited anime project.
