The last few weeks have been a swing of emotions for all fans of “old school” anime, especially for fans of “Ranma 1/2”, as they went from the intense hype for the announcement of a remake for this iconic and important work, to the anxiety due to the massive leak of episodes that the project suffered due to mismanagement.
This time the “Ranma 1/2” remake project gives us a very curious and ironic situation through its author Rumiko Takahashi due to a post on her official account in “X” before Twitter, a situation that has drawn several laughs among anime fans on social networks.
Rumiko Takashashi author of “Ranma” 1/2 was involved in this peculiar situation that left fans in disbelief.
It turns out that MAPPA studio has once again had an embarrassing moment among fans on the microblogging social network now called “X”, because the tool they have used to detect possible copyright infringement of anime has “knocked down” a publication of none other than Rumiko Takahashi author of “Ranma 1/2”.
As we can see the original publication of “@rumicworld1010” dated June 25 of this year and where she shared the official video of the announcement of the remake of the anime along with the phrase “It has been decided to produce a completely new Ranma 1/2 anime! !”, is no longer available due to ‘a complaint from the copyright holder’.
This situation is most likely due to the fact that following the massive leak that this anime and several others suffered, the copyright infringement search algorithms must be running on very strict parameters at the moment. So anything related to “Ranma 1/2” that might seem “suspicious” would be under these measures.
While this would be more the fault of the algorithm used than the “author denouncing herself” it is still very curious and funny that the same woman who created the original work is suffering the ravages of “violating the copyright” of her own work. Evidently, anime fans on the social network did not take long to realize this and reacted in various ways.
The vast majority of fans shared their opinions on the platform, some commenting that this was definitely very funny, as now you had to be careful not to “get sued for posting something about yourself”, on the other hand, in the same comical tone one fan said that it would be pretty “crazy” for Rumiko-san to have “self-reported”.
However, there were also some other fans who were not so benevolent with MAPPA, as they commented that this was one more “fiasco” to their long list of embarrassing moments in the anime industry, to which they added issues of labor exploitation and poor quality animation work.
In this same context, it was commented that this was a mismanagement by the studio or the person in charge of handling these issues, and that it was also a lack of respect towards the author, as well as that this misunderstanding deserved a public apology, since in Japan this was a “very serious offense”.
Undoubtedly this has been a very surreal moment that the anime industry has given us, so let us know your opinion about what you think happened here, but above all what was your initial reaction to this, if it was funny or if you are one of those who believe that this deserves a public apology as some fans pointed out.
