The event was attended by many executives, as well as director Yasunori Ide where they expressed their thoughts, feelings and affection towards this franchise, about 500 fans attended this event very excited about the new news. At this event held for the anniversary of “Onegai”, a fundraiser was held, and a new short film by director Yasunori Ide was shown, which made fans very happy. The “Onegai” franchise has two projects, “Onegai☆Teacher“, which aired in 2002, and “Onegai☆Twins’‘, which aired in 2003. The first one is also known as “Please Teacher!”, and its plot is centered on a high school student named Kei Kusanagi who suffers from a strange illness, Kei is a young man living in a small town, our protagonist one day sees a mysterious woman in the lake near his house.
This woman is actually his new teacher, Mizuho Kazami, who turns out to be an alien. To avoid being discovered, Mizuho marries Kei and becomes his tutor at school to keep their relationship a secret. The series combines elements of romantic comedy, science fiction and drama, exploring themes such as forbidden love, acceptance of difference and adapting to unusual situations.
The “Onegai☆Teacher” series was well received by the general public, its interesting characters and the introduction of secondary characters that add depth to the plot, have made this series a different and quite peculiar romance that has been liked by many.
On the other hand, we have “Onegai☆Twins” which tells us the story of Maiku Kamishiro, a high school student who lives alone after the death of his parents. One day, Maiku discovers a photo of himself as a child with a girl who appears to be his twin sister. After seeing the photo on a TV show, two girls named Miina Miyafuji and Karen Onodera, appear at his door, each wearing a rather similar version and claiming to be the sister in the photo.
To solve the mystery of who their sister really is, the three boys decide to live together temporarily. As they live together, romantic relationships and emotional conflicts arise between the main characters, but they still must fight them in order to learn the truth. Like its predecessor, “Onegai☆Twins” combines elements of romantic comedy, drama and a touch of science fiction, exploring themes of family, love and the search for identity. The series also features interesting secondary characters that contribute to the development of the plot.
If you enjoyed the quirky story of “Onegai☆Teacher,” chances are you will also like “Onegai☆Twins,” as they share a similar tone and explore themes related to human relationships in a unique and sometimes surreal context.
