Being a long-time Pokémon fan has its ups and downs: On one hand, it’s a magical experience to have built your own teams of creatures for years and across several consoles. But, on the other hand, it’s torture to have to wait for Nintendo and Game Freak to let us use Pokémon HOME to bring all our companions to the most recent Generation. It happened with Sword & Shield in 2019, and it repeated itself now with Scarlet & Violet. Since it was announced that connectivity with the storage app would come out “in early 2023” that we were all waiting for some news… and now, we finally have confirmation that it will arrive in a few days!
You’ll be able to connect Pokémon HOME with Pokémon Scarlet & Violet next week!
Many were sure that they would make the announcement in some official presentation, like a Nintendo Direct or a Pokémon Presents. But no, they did it through the official Twitter account of Pokémon. The image present in the tweet shows us the expansive connectivity that exists between all the titles of the franchise available on Nintendo Switch: Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee, Sword & Shield, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, Legends Pokémon: Arceus and now, Scarlet & Violet. If we add to this the popular game for cell phones, Pokémon GO, we can notice that there are a lot of options: 5 games, 3 generations and 2 platforms.
The other good news is the special gift that you can get if you connect the mobile version of Pokémon HOME with Scarlet & Violet. The starters of Paldea, Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly (And their respective evolutions) are excellent Pokémon, and their hidden abilities are not easy to obtain. So receiving one of each one completely free is great news for trainers who are interested in online battles. These abilities are:
- Sprigatito, Floragato and Meowscarada: Mutatype
- Fuecoco, Crocalor and Skeledirge: Unaware
- Quaxly, Quaxwell and Quaquaval: Self-esteem
However, not everything is good news. The Pokémon Company and Game Freak always make some questionable decisions, and this time was no exception, so fans did not take long to criticize them. In this case, it was confirmed that the Pokémon deposited in Pokémon HOME will only be able to know moves that are available in these 5 games. Any other old move will be removed from their set. So, what is the purpose of creating an app where you can store all your Pokémon from previous deliveries, if some of them can’t even bring all the moves they learned?
On the other hand, this update will also give us the possibility to check all the information of our creatures from anywhere, without the need for them to be deposited in the most recent title. We can’t deny that we notice the effort they are putting into Pokémon HOME to make it the definitive Pokémon storage app. Although they took quite a few months to launch connectivity with Scarlet & Violet, we are happy that it is finally reality as of next May 24th. Especially because we are a few months away from the release of their downloadable packages.
