Surely, many of us will agree that the acclaimed “Pokemon” is a legendary franchise, which has simply resisted the passage of time for more than 20 years at the top of popularity, through its multiple video games, anime and merchandising collections that travel around the world. And of course, its main characters represent a fraction of its success, with Ash, the young trainer, and Pikachu, its emblematic Pokémon, being some of the main faces in the popular saga.
But what would happen if you forgot what made “Pokemon” important? This was something that quickly flooded the social networks and discussion forums in a never-ending controversy that is currently going on, since the screenwriters of the Pokémon anime have decided to take a new direction in the franchise, leaving out Pikachu, along with the main character Ash, the most iconic and beloved protagonist by the public of fans, the series did nothing but fall down in viewers upon its premiere.
Pokémon collapses due to missing Ash Ketchum!
This is reported in the Japanese media, reporting a considerable decrease in each episode of the new “Pokemon” anime only a few months after its premiere. During the broadcast of episode 16 entitled “You can do it too, Quaxly” had a figure that hovered between 858 thousand viewers in total, while if we go to the broadcast of episode 19 entitled “The truth about Alcremie”, the figure drops to approximately 468 thousand viewers, it is a more than obvious problem.
Indeed, we can take into account that the decision that has been made regarding the future of the animated adaptation for “Pokemon“, does not seem to give the best results at present. But in what way do the retired main characters have an impact? Ash Ketchum has been with us for decades, and one thing that makes him truly important is his connection to the childhood of every child, or now adult, who has probably lost that bond of feeling in the face of an abrupt or unnecessary change.
The opinion of the most common “Pokemon” fans does not seem to be encouraging either, since we found comments, which specify some of the reasons that seem to them highly related to the decline of their new animated series. Many consider that the story is somewhat boring, others do not enjoy the fact that Ash and Pikachu are left aside, mentioning that Liko and Roy are not interesting enough to keep up with them for the next few years.
To this day, the new anime series about “Pokemon” has only a few chapters since its release, so there is no great certainty about what could happen with its future, leaving a long way to go, but it certainly does not look like a very bright adventure for everyone. Time will tell if the story of the series, or the protagonists who seek to create a new story, Liko and Roy, manage to win a place in the hearts of the public of fans, after the end of a relationship with more than 26 years.
