Originalmente, la franquicia Pokémon comenzó como un videojuego RPG en Japón, este proyecto inicial tuvo un gran recibimiento por parte del público, que luego de un par de años, debido a su arrollador éxito y altas ventas, pudo posicionarse como una marca mundialmente reconocida, pues a partir de esto Pokémon se expandía hacia otros medios como juegos de cartas, ropa, peluches y los más relevantes series animadas y películas.
Originally, the pokemon franchise began as an RPG video game in Japan, this initial project had a great reception from the public, which after a couple of years, due to its overwhelming success and high sales, could position itself as a globally recognized brand, because from this Pokemon expanded into other media such as card games, clothing, stuffed animals and the most relevant animated series and movies.
25 years ago Pokémon came to the West
Pokemon has undoubtedly become a worldwide phenomenon that has managed to transcend several generations of fans, since its appearance it managed to captivate the Japanese public and not only that, but also audiences on the other side of the world. While in Japan the video games of the franchise caused a sensation, in the West it was the animated adaptation that would initiate the passion for the franchise.
The anime began broadcasting in Japan in April 1997, and it would not be until September of the following year that it would reach the West. Curiously, the first episode broadcast on American television would not be the beginning of the story, while in Japan episode 15 of the first season “Duel aboard the Santa Anna!”, was broadcast on small screen, due to regional and dubbing differences this same episode was broadcast on American television on September 7, 1998.
After this “mistake”, 25 years ago, on September 8, 1998, the first episode of the first season of the anime, “Pokémon, I choose you!”, was broadcast on American television, marking the beginning of an entire era.
This was how this great adventure began, following the journey of Satoshi, known as Ash Ketchum in the West, a boy from Paleta Town who wanted to become a Pokémon Master with his inseparable friend Pikachu.
After 1223 episodes comes a series of special episodes in “Adventures of a Pokémon Master” as the fourth and final installment of the latest season “Ultimate Pokémon Journeys“. In these episodes Ash reflects on the true meaning of being a Pokémon Master after his journey to become a full-fledged Pokemon trainer.
This story caused great excitement in those who were among the first viewers who waited anxiously for the next chapter, and who surely still remember the anime with nostalgia today. After Ash managed to become World Champion, the franchise decided to bring its story to a close after a long adventure of more than two decades and 25 seasons.
The Pokemon Company released the last episodes of this adventure through the Netflix platform, where you can already find these last moments in which the encounters become more nostalgic.
For the closing of this adventure, Ash is reunited with his dear friends Brock and Misty, who accompanied him during his first steps towards achieving his dream, without forgetting the iconic Team Rocket, as well as many Pokemon that joined Ash and Pikachu during their incredible adventure. This final journey promises moments full of laughter, encounters and emotions to give way to a new generation in the next Pokemon Horizons series.
This adventure comes to an end after 25 years, a journey full of emotions, victories and defeats, but which has undoubtedly left an indelible mark in history. Accompanied by his precious friend Pikachu, Ash has shown us that efforts have a reward and that determination as well as experiences help us grow to achieve our dreams.
