To commemorate its 30th anniversary, PlayStation released custom backgrounds of its 4 previous consoles (PSONE, PS2, PS3 and PS4) as an update for the current generation. These backgrounds came along with a kickstarter reminiscent of Sony’s first console released in December 1994 for the PS5 last December 2024 and was well received by all users. This good reception and the recent new collaborations they have achieved to continue commemorating their 30th anniversary have made them launch for the second time such customizable backgrounds.
PlayStation console backgrounds return to PS5 with new feature
Through communicated through social networks of PlayStation, it was announced that after December 2024 was “temporary” from this April, to celebrate the 30th anniversary will be added permanently this week. The Japanese company will put into action the update of the themes from this week and gradually add the rest of the themes of the consoles: PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. They were the same responsible for the accounts that decided to resume the themes by “The great enthusiasm of the community”.
The Japanese company once again released this unexpectedly and for free, although this time a completely new feature was added: “Audio Focus”. The end of this is, according to Sony “To enhance immersion during gameplay by offering a series of presets that amplify the most subtle sounds according to the user’s listening preferences.”
Thanks to this update, which is also free of charge, players will be able to select from various profiles that make it easier to distinguish between ambient character dialogs or environmental sound effects such as wind rustling footsteps and group chat voices. The four predefined approaches have three levels of intensity and can be adjusted independently via the left and right channels:
> Serious enhancement: Reinforces low frequency sounds, such as engines or explosions.
> Enhancing voices: Improves the clarity of voices and voice chats.
> Enhance treble: Enhances high-pitched sounds such as footsteps or brass.
> Enhancing weak sounds:Amplifies low volume sounds at multiple frequencies.
The audio focus function is only available when using headphones connected via USB or analog connector, and is not compatible with HDMI connections via TVs, AV receivers or soundbars.
