The thirtieth anniversary of Sony PlayStation is just a few months away, that is why the company has been preparing a progressive campaign with interesting announcements and releases throughout this 2024 and the most shocking by far was the revolutionary PlayStation 5 Pro. These 30 years have been mostly of successes than failures in terms of consoles, and to commemorate their achievement, they will launch several special and limited editions of the consoles reminiscent of the first model released in the 90s.
PlayStation 30th Anniversary Edition will be a tribute to the original PS
Every gamer, sympathetic or not with Sony video game consoles, will know that the original PS popularly known as PS1 adopted an aesthetic design in gray with controls with the same palette and the peculiarity of including the “PS” logo in a colorful design that injected freshness in both the control and the console. This design would change with the arrival of future consoles, but now, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the company, they have decided to return to their roots, at least with a new set of limited edition consoles, where we will see the classic gray seen in the first console in the current generation.
This announcement comes less than 3 months before its 30th anniversary and being Sony’s brand one of the most recognized in the gaming world, they were not going to spare any effort to celebrate it to the fullest. These special editions of the PlayStation Pro and Slim will appeal to the nostalgia of the PSone, not only having the peculiarity of being gray like the first one, but will have engraved inscriptions of the 30th anniversary and the symbol with the original colors of the brand.
In a video of just over 6 minutes, Kristen Zitani and Hideaki Nishino CEO of the brand, presented the entire collection and the levels of detail that the special editions of the PlayStation Slim and PlayStation Pro will have. In addition, they showed their impressive finishes and level of detail. Below we share the official video released by PlayStation:
As if the above were not enough, peripherals were also announced in their special version of the 30th anniversary as the Dual Sense, Dual Sense Edge, a sisco reader, Charging Station, Stand and of course one of the most revolutionary and successful peripherals of this 2024, the PlayStation Portal. The controllers are finished with a spectacular level of detail with engravings on the triggers and the same inscriptions of the 30th anniversary of PlayStation.
Pre-orders to get any of these objects of the collection will open on September 26 and the launch will be on December 3, the price of the consoles and peripherals has not been disclosed to the public nor is there a rough estimate, as being a limited “collector’s edition” prices rise exponentially.
